So, let me tell you guys that I'm not too keen on making this kind of post, but I have no choice.

For three years now I have been hosting this board and paying for it (well, using my own webspace too) and I do not regret it. I never asked for money, because I didn't need it.

However, my hosting plan ends in november. Now, as some of you may know, I'm an university student. It also happens that I get my bill for the current semester around that time. In this kind of situation, it's easy to see what I priorize.

Let's face it: during the semester I work about 15 hours a week. The $120 for a year (or $210 for two) is at least a week of pay. I know you guys aren't stupid, you can probably guess what I'm going to say.

Right. Donations. I didn't think I'd ask for that, but shit happens.

Basically, I'm going to put this button at the bottom of the pages: Donate towards my web hosting bill! (you can click it here too. Button is subject to change).

Now, do not fear. This does not go to my paypal account (basically, I'll never touch the money). Dreamhost is good enough to set up a donation service that goes directly in the account balance. So, any donations made with that button goes directly towards hosting.

Now. What do you get for donating? I'm afraid I can't offer much. However, I can host you if you want. We have unlimited bandwitdh and space (well, kinda) so this won't make the bill grow. The only thing we don't have is the right to abuse CPU time, basically. With that, you can use any subdomain of a domain I own (which isn't much, as I forgot to renew disgaea.net, go me), that is darkslaya.com or xeogaming.net (or a proper domain which is $10 a year).

Rare long post from me, I know. But this is really important.


EDIT: if you do donate, please remember that small ammounts (i.e: $1) get raped by paypal fees.

EDIT2: And more money we get, the longer I can secure our hosting.

I can spare probably about $40 next paycheck, but I also have to wait to get my new credit card as my old one is about to expire, so... We'll see.

Donations work with paypal, essentially. You link a bank account with your paypal account. You can also use credit cards through paypal without an account, I believe

M'kay, cool. I can probably donate around twenty every week, for a little while. I need to save up for college, too, so it won't be forever. I'll definitely donate when I can, though.

I just...asked to have this color. You don't need to expect to have Darkslaya bend over backwards for you when you donate. Instead, just have that warm fuzzy feeling inside that you helped keep this place alive with money you could have spent buying that hooker at the corner.

As for me? I'll think about it. When IRC and the RPG kicks in I will have no second thoughts. But right now? I'll think about it. It's not because I don't want this place to die or anything. But it's just the fact of the matter here. There are other alternatives. Like ads or something to keep this place duct-taped until the forums are improved with a hell of a lot more interaction. I mean let's be serious here. The community is great! It's just there isn't a lot here at all.

E- Ok, tell you what. The day this place get's IRC is the day I will fork up 20 bucks. So get crackin'. Also, if no one posts in IRC. You people reading this will make me waste my money. So fuck you!
