War. War Never changes...

Set in Las New Vegas, you, the character, are shot in the head. Game over! Best 60 bucks you ever spent!

That is...until you are born again (You can choose your race, sex, etc when 'whatever' happens after you got shot). After that it's time to mosey up, gamble, have sex with zombies, or pick up a grenade machine gun.

Ok, joking aside. This game takes place about a hundred years after the events of Fallout 3. You run around 'New' Vegas in search of whoever killed you at the beginning of the game (Seriously, I dunno what the deal is with coming back from the dead). You wander the land of sin, chaos, and rebels helping, or after your head. Either way, it's a sandbox game. It's Fallout. And it's gonna be awesome!

Also, is it sad I know these songs? Thanks Olive Garden! (I really hate this next song in the trailer. UGH)

If Newegg is correct. It's currently en route to my house. A full two weeks early! Hell even the tracking code lists that it just left Las Vegas (Irony).

Also, if you want to purchase this game for cheap; Newegg has it for 49.99 with Free shipping. Newegg also has never let me down when it comes to getting games early and cheaper. God of War 3 came from them two days earlier than the actual release date and I purchased it for $45.

Better than buying $60 worth.

If you don't own a PS3 the PC / Xbox versions are also on newegg for the same price. This is a damn good deal.

I've only played Fallout 3, and what I did play, I had a few problems with. For some reason, I hated the auto-aim feature. Sure, it was a little cool, but I would have liked it better in real time, not 'pause the game and aim wherever the fuck you want at me! Don;t worry, me and my friends won't move! Promise!'.

Lol. Still, it was pretty fun. I might invest in this, depending on what I hear about it. (probably from you).

Well, to me the Fallout games are indeed amazing. Depending on where you look at it, Fallout could provide romance, action, or just endless slaughter.

Basically what I am trying to say is that these games are not only fun. But the story is what you make of it. Sure there is a boundry of living in a world of Nuclear destruction and all. But hey, you gotta work with what you got!

Take the first two Fallout games. Which if you never played those games I will first mention that both are seriously hard to pick up and play. Fallout 2 especially.

When I got my first computer. It was in 1997. I was 10 years old at the time. And I was spoiled with games like Fragile Alligence, Doom, and this game. Fallout.

The first Fallout game was extremely difficult. And I am not lying. You can purchase the first three games that will work with Win7 / XP for $20. So before you read on, buy the collection. If you don't feel like buying them and want to hear my story. Ok. I know you didn't.

Walking in the wasteland was either a blessing or a curse. But 90% of the time it was awful. You chose hand to hand? And all of a sudden you were up against Super Mutants? You were fucked! Game over! Start over!

I beaten the first game and for my 12th birthday I got the 2nd game. Back then I was on BBS boards and read that everyone was complaining about how the tutorial level was too hard.

It was. And it still is even after they have patched it. You literally need to save before and after every battle while hoping to God you were able to hit your opponent. After you leave the tutorial; you were stuck with the wasteland. Which was a gamble on it's own. But once you got your grounds right; you were pretty much set in doing whatever the hell you want to do. But my best advice for you is to just explore the wasteland. In the first fallout game you had 120 days to beat it. Thanks to a patch today you don't need to beat it in that timeframe but it's also the same deal as the 2nd one. It's harder sure. But you don't need to worry about a time limit.

If you want to learn the history of the first two games. Watch this:

But play the first two games. You can find them cheap online. GoG.com has them at 6 dollars a pop.

Less than 10 days left and Newegg just charged me with the Pre-order. It's currently en route to my destination (Damn lying newegg from before!). Here is hoping it will get here before the street date! *Crosses fingers*

Also, I just joined the Vault Wiki and will be doing as many things as I can on certain articles about the game.

But damnit is that site full of spoilers about New Vegas. But I at least did not go too far. I at least know how the game continues on you being shot in the head twice before you walk the wastelands again.

October 19th can not come soon enough.

Agreed on that last point. I've got it reserved at Gamestop, the girl there told me it'd be a midnight release. Which makes this the first one I'm going to, on account of having nothing better to do anyway.

Conveniently, that'll give me two consecutive days off to blow playing this!

What the, I swear I made a big post here.

Anyways... isn't this one going to be a little more "confined" in terms of environments? I kind of hope so. Fallout 3 was just too big and boring for me honestly. I will be interested in giving this one a shot since it's different developers though and has some of the original staff from the old games.

I can't wait for this game, and I'm definitely getting it for PC, if only for the mods that are inevitably coming along.

I did not like Fallout 3, particularly. It just felt really bland for me. Maybe this one will improve itself in my eyes.

Yeah I honestly liked Oblivion more and I hardly liked that game too, just not a big Bethesda fan. But I'm willing to give this one a shot.

Open world FPS's are very hit or miss for me. Far Cry 2 I finished ... somehow, it's something I never wish to revisit again. I absolutely loved Borderlands but it was a pretty simple game after the first few hours of getting the hang of things... etc.

You didn't lik Far Cry 2? Dude, that game was pretty much the ultimate playground for me, especially whenever I had my flamethrower equipped.

As for New Vegas, I had fun with Fallout 3, but I never quite got into it, since I started soon before Mass Effect 2 came out, and really, there is no competition there.

But the fact that its made by Obsidian is interesting...on the one hand, they're great at coming up with awesome and mature stories (KOTOR2 still has one of the best stories I've ever played, in my opinion)

But their games are always pretty buggy.

I can't really blame you. The main story was a little strange for me. You, the son of the Vault dweller in the hunt to find your father? Not to mention your father was the scientist in bringing back fresh water to the wasteland?

It was never as deep as the original ones. What with The Master, or Frank Horrigan, and I'll even say this; Fallout 3 did have conclusions to some of the side-characters on the previous fallout games.

But Fallout New Vegas is made by the same people who made Fallout 1 & 2. This is only produced by Bethesda. Sure it will have the same engine and everything but the taste of the original will remain the same. If you did not like Fallout 3; at least give this one a try.

Look at me saying like I know the game. Oh wait, I do!

I'm editing articles on the Vault wiki and I already like what I am reading. I am not editing spoiler articles. But I at least know that this game will put you in a real fucking situation. And everyone will love it.

Also, DLC will be offered. So that just makes this all the more better.

E- I also have seen streaming videos. Five hours worth.

Boy is this game gonna be fun as fuck. I really love the modding feature of your guns. Which is awesome seen how the Bethesda devs added because "Modding guns was a huge feature of G.E.C.K. So we just had to push this in".

Not to mention the side stories in this game. You will not believe how deep the rabbit hole goes in this game. It's a top notch better game than Fallout 3

Ha ha~

There are a lot of meme's in this game. There is an upgraded Guass rifle named The YCS/186. Which is named after "Your console sucks" from the SA forums. Quite frankly, the head designer of the original Fallout is also a Goon of the formes (Under the name Rope Kid) and spoiled it. Everyone in YCS (Chucklefucking FYAD-lite forum) just about exploded and everyone began showing receipts.

There also is a ton of other memes in this game. SNATCHER makes a return, a robot saying "All your base are belong to us", and more.

But there is one thing you need to do in order for the meme's to appear (The rifle is hidden in the game).
Spoiler:
Select the 'Wacky Wasteland' trait when you begin the game. This makes the wasteland...well, wacky

I also understand that there is a 4chan meme in the game. But I don't get it. A lot of Goons exclaimed that it was. So I'll let you guys decide on your own.

Johnny <<< Might be spoilerific. But who knows. It's just 4chan humor I suppose.

My package came in the mail yesterday. And I went to the Midnight release just to pick up the Strategy Guide (Collectors Edition). I got a lot of funny looks as people were asking me questions about the game. Newegg did not give me a code to start the game with. But that's ok.

Anyways, the game owns. It has it's bugs here and there. But to me it's not as bad as it was on Fallout 3. I just want to get this out of the way right now. There will be bugs. From the 10 hours I have been playing it. I have only encountered 1 freeze. But it's not as bad as Fallout 3. Like I said.

Now, from the 10 hours I have been playing it. It's great. Fantastic. Quite possibly one of the best games I have played this year (Cept God of War 3)

Now that I am taking a break from the game. I am looking over some stuff in the guide and I am just absolutely blown away.

Spoiler:
You can improve your companions through side-quests.

You can 'buy' perks. However, this costs a shitload of caps. Like, astronomical. This includes 1 point into each of your SPECIAL. And perks such as skin armor, Health regeneration, etc. This is the way the game 'Cheats'. The tradeoff is the caps though. So start gamblin! (Tens of Thousands of caps.)

You can't cheat while gambling. Think you wanna save right before you bet everything you have on Red? Or load if you lost all your money? Think again. Sure you can reload, but you need to wait awhile before you can bet again. Do this too much and the Casino kicks your ass to th curve. You won't be able to set foot back inside one again. Another way to get kicked out is if you win too much. Like robbing them.

Gonna play this game for 300 god damn hours

E- Also, I can't really say which one is better until I ultimately destroy this game. As in, beat it with 10 in all SPECIAL (Which is confirmed possible) and 100 in all skills (Also confirmed. Albet difficult). But right now I can say that New Vegas is head over heels better. It's not as broken as Fallout 3 was.

From the way you speak of this game, I need it.

Th story looks pretty good, as do the graphics (of course). How bad are the bugs, though? That is another reason I disliked 3. One freeze doesn't seem to bad, though. It still sucks, but it's better than nothing.

The bugs are not totally bad. There were instances where radscorpions get stuck on certain textures and there was another instance where the framerate kinda dropped on me for a split second. The freeze was almost my fault, I was throwing dynamite everywhere.

I did however get a shitload of Deathclaws to meet me in front of a door once. But this is only if you chose the Wild Wasteland perk. Randomness!

I also had only one freeze, playing the game pretty much all day yesterday.

Note: Going up against Nightkin with low ammo for anything heavier than a 10mm pistol and only 4 Str (making melee even more useless)? Painful. Pulled it off thanks to frag mines and getting them stuck on the terrain, but just barely. I was reduced to using .38 Special ammo in my Cowboy Repeater.

Yeah, I am playing Hardcore mode myself and it's very slow for me.

Don't get me wrong. I love the difficulty. But I chose the wrong tags at the beginning, making this game that much harder.

I never tagged my Survival and thus I got stuck with selling meats to gain cash. But the good news is that I raised my repair to 100 by level 6 and I can easily make money off of raiders and Powder gangers. Fully repaired 9mm? An easy 100 caps. 10mm? 300 caps.

The food and water concern is constant. Which is why 80% of your inventory should be just food and water. The hard part is sleep. Thankfully most areas in the game has resting points. So there is always that.

I also picked up the guide while I was playing and read through it for about an hour and learned some tips on the wasteland. But with my way I did it a little faster. Not that much XP and it's hella harder. But still faster.

- The repair skill I boasted about is indeed helpful. I raised mine to 100 as fast as I could. Leaving my survival to 25 so I can at least sell hides for a good profit. Plus. Geckos are not that hard to find. And they make great meat too (Survival 30). So starting out. Raise your Survival to 30. Then everything you got in repair.

- After you raised your Repair. Get guns. Oh god get Guns. Like, raise that skill as much as possible. Lockpicking is great. But avoid Science. As there is a trick to hacking computers. If you don't know the trick: Before the computer locks down on your hacking. Close out of the computer and try again. You basically get infinite turns. Also, it helps to know how the game is played. Matching letters and whatnot. You'll understand once you pick it up.

- Don't pick up shit you don't need. This is important. Seen how 80% of your inventory should be food and water then you really don't need to pick up a super sledge hammer (Unless your STR is like at...9). There are a lot of things in the wasteland that you won't need right off the bat. DO your best judgement and don't pick it up.

- If the game tells you that you should not go there. Don't. Especally in Hardcore mode. There will be times where you are forced to walk a lot. Fast traveling included. This eats away at your food and water supply like nothing. Try to stick with the 'Script' the game hands you. If it tells you to go somewhere. Go to it rather than explore in areas the game does not want you to.

- Make save files ever 30 minutes. This is really helpful. As you never know what is around the corner. In Hardcore mode, Stimpacks do help, but overtime. Even in the normal mode you will go through these things quickly. And you should really think smart. Save you game and play around a little. Know how a dungeon works. If you fuck up, you'll know that you have a save file to back it up. You will eventually fight something that will fuck your world up (Nightkin) if you are not careful (Tip: If you see a Nightkin. Aim for the legs. This reduces their speed greatly. Thus you can run backwards and shoot them.)

- INT is important in Hardcore mode...if you want the game seriously slow. Sacrificing every other stat in place of INT makes the game basically slower. You''ll gain more stats per level up, sure. But everything else hurts. If you go this route. Make damn sure you at least get the Training perk five times before taking any other perk. The Training perk should be taken at level 6. Again if you want to, but you need to make sure you put as many points into your SPECIAL as possible. If you see a perk that you might find helpful then please take them. But keep in mind that your SPECIAL is suffering.

- Take the 'Educated' Perk at level 4. This grants you and extra 2 points upon leveling. Does not sound like much? Well, add this up to level 30 and you will have spent 50+. If you did not take this perk, you won't have that 50 to spend.

- The traits can actually be helpful. I chose Good Natured and Trigger Discipline (Wild Wasteland on another save file). While Good natured does lower your weapon and combat skills, it does up the anty on important things early in the game. Like your speech, hacking, and lockpicking. Don't be afraid to take this trait. Or any trait for that matter.

- Unlike Fallout 3. It's easy to make caps. And I mean seriously easy. If you have a high repair skill, you can rob a vendor for everything they are worth for a 100% repaired weapon. High survival skill can net you easy caps from killing Geckos and looting their skins. And the first gang you encounter has a shitload of dynamite. Which sells for a lot. So don't be afraid to wander the desert in search for the gangs. They are pussies. And a shotgun to the head will knock them out flat on low levels and low gun skills.

- Speech is an amazing skill. You can get far with a high speech skill. Be sure to kinda balance whatever it is you are raising with speech skills. You can get away with so much shit doing this. If anything, I'm at level 7 and my speech skill is 50. This is more than enough to pass speech checks on your first 10 levels. After this; it's all up to you.

- Sneak is stupid. Don't bother going this route unless you want to be the devel and loot snacks and keys. The payoff and combat strategy is good. But being good also pays very well too.

- Only use Stimpacks when a limb is damaged. In hardcore mode. Use a Doctor bag. Either way, if you are low on health. Eat something! You can find food and water throughout the desert. It would not hurt to raise your medicine skill a couple points per level just so the stimpacks work that much better.

- Energy weapons skill should not be spent early on. Unlike Fallout 3, there is a quest you can do to get the best Plasma Rifle in the game. In New Vegas; it's hard to even find a laser rifle. At the beginning, just stick with guns, when you hit the strip; pump as many Energy weapon points you can give at any time. They WILL, and I repeat, THEY WILL come in handy.

That's all I got. Enjoy, you bastards!

I had that happen to me in Fallout 3. Shit was fucking creepy. It's like the poltergeist except...fallout.

Also, this never happend to me on the 360 or the PS3 version. That glitch is PC only from what I understand.
