Hey everyone,

So first off, I've got to say something to Rob, aka, BJ, aka, the Phoenix.

You promised me scented letters, I have yet to get any. While I'm fine without any perfume, I am disappointed that you haven't written me yet, xD.

For the rest of you... I have yet to get any e-mails from you either. Get to it, xD.

So life as a missionary. Right now, life is a little bit slow. We sit in classrooms any time we aren't sleeping or eating. Not to say taht that's a bad thing, though. I've been learning quite a bit, and the hour they provide for personal study is awesome. It probably would be even more awesome, though, if we were all a little quieter, as we often distract ourselves.

Also, last night, we went to a big MTC devotional, where Richard G. Scott (for those who aren't Mormons, he's one of our big leaders) spoke. One of the people in our district charged ahead, so we managed to get in the third row. Third row out of the entire MTC, of about 2,000 missionaries. It was definitely awesome to be there. That said though, it was sor tof interesting to see our MTC president, who usually cracks jokes left and right while he's talking, looked completely serious the whole time Richard G. Scott was there. Gotta impress, I suppose.

Other than that, life is good. My missionary companion, while very different from me, is a good guy, and fun to hang out with, and the other six people who we are around pretty much 24/7 are also all fun to be around. Even in the space of a week, despite all being from different backgrounds and places, we all are very good friends already. Kristi (for those non-Tigges's, my sister) is probably thinking we just suffer from EFY syndrome (for those nonMormons, is a week long thing where mormon youth get together, and often turn insane), but it is more than that, we all are good friends.

And we can prove it. Looking down in the dining hall, we see everyone else looking quiet, sitting around bored, usualy just with our companion. Us eight, however, sit together making loud and stupid jokes about anything and everything. Its all good fun.

Oh yeah, and all but three of us are servingg in the same place, the Roseville California mission, which covers everything north of Sacramento.

Anyway though, we have a timer on our e-mail, and I only have a few seconds left. So, I posted my adress, write me, and I'll see you next time I e-mail Cairoi.

Thanks,
Vulkar.

Dear Vulkar,

Hello is this thing on? Okay. =P Anyway I miss ya. Your shredding is fun. Plus I don't want to be the only to compete with Phoenix on XPW.

Glad you're okay! Just got through with Freedom Rest here. It's like a four day vacation. You tour around and what not. The christian camp I worked at wanted a gift from it. So I got them a teddy bear. Everyone has been taking pictures with the bear too. It's a huge hit.

Haha! That silly jerk

If you email him back, Cairoi, ask him if he knows what Pure Seduction is. I'm drowning a letter in it xD

Also, I will kill him for calling me Rob.

True, you will also never surpass me in posts. Bitmap seems to be the only one with more than me

Dear Vulkar,

Glad all is well. I plan on writing a proper letter once we get to Pennsylvania so you will have a place to write back to. We are currently packing... it is all kinda crazy and terrifying. I really hope that you will enjoy northern California, the weather up there is much nicer than here in socal for the most part. You just have to deal with the nuttiness that is Sacremento. Please say you have a camera, we want pics.

That is all for now... I broke my phone so I want to end this before it restarts itself... again.

Hey, so I'm low on time, but I have you e-mail you all this little bit.

First off, I'm heading to the field this Tuesday, so if you all plan to mail me, my address is changing to this:

Elder Alexander Tigges
California Roseville Mission
8583 Watt Ave
Antelope, CA 95843-9117

Phoenix, I still haven't gotten that letter you promised.

Everyone else, I've been enjoying my time here, but am definitely eager to get oout on the field. I haven't seen much sunlight, and have been spending most of my time in a classroom, but I've learned a lot, and am really looking forward to getting oout there.

As a sample of the fun:

Every night, before we go to sleep, I say, "Hey, guess what?"

The say, "What?"

"You're now under conscious control of your breathing."

If all goes well, by the time we leave, they'll be trained to always start controlling their breathing right before they go to sleep.

Thanks,
Vulkar

For some reason I figured they'd send you more toward the sinning part of the state, you know.. down here. Then again, we have so many people on their missions here already. Then again, my neighborhood gets more Witnesses these days.

I agree with Elara. The weather up there is usually less extreme when it comes to the heat, although it can be colder and rainier (but I prefer that. Maybe you do too?).

So, I cheated, and my last Dear-Vulkar didn't get posted, so since I know you're busy with real-life and such, just feel free to psot this and the last one alongside each other.

Hey everyone,

So, life a little later into the field, and life is going well. As said in the last message that before I came here, I'd gone over six years since I rode a bike, so I had a bit of a rough start. But really, I couldn't have asked for a better area to get good at riding a bike. The area is mostly flat, but there are also biking trails, one place with a half-pipe, etc. So biking is going good.

Well, it would be, but my companion and I were playing basketball yesterday, and when he plays, he plays all out.

So, in a game where I was sitting out, he jumped up into the air, and came down on top of another missionary. There was an audible pop, and he is now on crutches.

So biking isn't happenning at all.

So, Thanksgiving this week, since I didn't get to post it like usual. First, we had the ever-traditional turkey-bowl, first with our ward, where we palyed for about two hours, and my companion, always true to himself, nearly killed himself playing. Then we palyed with other missionaries who are in our zone, and that was a far more epic game. We had a little over twenty missionaries, jerseys for each team with our names and number printed on them (I HAD to choose 42. All the nerds here know why), and we actually played with linemen. So, I played on the line, and while I really wanted to give an epic speech about how our team would hold that line, I was low on time, and thus resisted.

Then we went over to a town out of our area, about half an hour away, and ate with a family in our ward, as well as about twenty or so other members. Five turkeys were cooked, each one in a different way, none of them in the oven. Exciting and undeniably awesome. And smoked turkey has power.

Anyway though, on a completely new subject, with a somewhat awkward transition, you all would be surprised at what little things drives a missionary crazy in the field. First off, for those who don't know, when we're missionaries, we go by the title "Elder." So instead of being called, Alex Tigges, Tiggees, or whatever other nickname you give me, it is now "Elder Tigges."

So, how does that drive me crazy? Well, mostly because of my mortal fear that when I get home and instroduce myself to someone, I won't be introducing myself as Alex, I'll say, "Hey, I'm Elder Tigges, erm, I mean, Elder Alex. Wait, no, just Alex. No Elder."

I will then proceed to calmly cry myself to sleep.

Anyway though, I sent out one mailing address, then sent out another. really then this address should work for the whole two years:

Elder Alexander Tigges
California Roseville Mission
8583 Watt Ave
Antelope, CA 95843-9117

I'll still post the address for the area I'm in, but sometimes it'll take a little longer for me to get letters from that one, since transfers usually happen with very little notice. The address above, however, will forward any letters I get right to where I am. And seriously Xeogamers, write me. I don't know how our favorite board is going!

But that's about all the missionary experiences you're getting this week, so...

See you later!

Hello everyone,

So first off, I've sent a few letters our, one even being an awesome simbattle post, but have yet to get a reply. Phoenix, I need to kill Braksa again! It's all good though, I know a lot of you are busy, so if you don't have the time...well make time, I need to hear about Xeogaming, xD.

Anyway though, life has been going good around here in Roseville, I recently finished with my first companion, who, after having been stationed here in Roseville for seven months, has moved on to another area. I was assigned to stay here for at least another six weeks (probably it'll be more), and was given a new companion.

So what does that mean? Yeah, that means that I, who still am not exactly the mast missionary I hope to be, am now the one taking charge of the area until my new companion gets to know the area a little better. Exciting, no?

From the looks of it, it's happenned to several other newbies as well though, so things will be interesting for all of us.

My new companion, Elder Groberg, is pretty good though. He's been on his mission for about twenty months, obeys the rules a lot better than my last companion, and has a strong testimony. I'm excited to be working with him, these next few weeks.

Oh yeah, and unlike my last companion, he's got a bit of a sense of humor. He'll like, actually laugh at things I say!

Craziness.

Anyway, as for other life, last I e-mailed, I had kind of learned to ride a bike, but until this past week, I hadn't realized the awesomeness of what my bike has, and that is disc brakes. More than that, it's disc brakes in the rain. Which means I can do a bit of drifting.

Or at least, I could if I was a little more coordinated. As it is now, I'm pretty sure I'd die trying it. I'm still working on more complicated things, like riding with no hands.

Anyway though, we also started teaching a group of Muslims, and by teaching, I mean little teaching is going on. We took a couple members to both appointments, and rather than having a strong Spiritual discussion, as we should have, things got a little contentious. The first appointment ended fine, and we were invited to return, but in the second, the members we took with us went crazy, saying they were wrong, didn't know their religion, and generally bashed them as hard as he could.

So, when I called last Friday to try and apologize, Nahid, wose house this meeting was at, yelled at me for about five minutes, and then hung up the phone, saying for me not to call again.

But about an hour later, she called again, apologized, said she had prayed to God for forgiveness, and said that we could come by again, as long as we didn't bring those members again.

So, happy ending, but something has really struck me about this group. First off, whilke they also argue, it more shows their passion and faith in God than anything. Yeah, they aren't the same religion as me, but their devotion and passion is great.

And no, they aren't the extremist muslims. They follow the Quaran, and only the Quaran. They say that anyone who praises Muhammad after his death is full of sin.

We also started teaching another woman, Christine, who has had a very interesting life. And by interesting, I mean horrible. And by horrible, I mean that there is almost nothing we want than to try and help her.

She is a very nice lady, she's helped a ton of people but each time she does, it backfires. She loaned her car to a friend, and had it stolen. She let someone stay at her house when she was having trouble at her home, had things stolen, etc.

And she was abused, not only in marriage, but also as a child. It's been bad enough for her that she plans to start up a charity organization to help other people who went through what she went through, showing that even in her worst experiences, she wants to pull out something good.

Anyway though, I hope everything is going well for everyone at home, and feel free to send a letter something!

Thanks,
Alex
