I'm sure all of the outlets, facebook, myspace, deviantart, and the like is considered a form of blogging. This site could be considered a form, could it not? (Seriously, not sure if it is, by definition actually.)
But I know there are still sites like Lifejournal and blogspot. What I'm wondering is....which is the most popular? I'd do a poll, but LJ and Blogspot are really the only ones I know of...and if this sort of blogging is even popular still at all. But, I intend to use whichever, to gain more viewers and shit. I don't intend for it to be the typical emo bull that I was oh-so-good at in the past. I'm thinking using it as a digital portfolio. Making like a weekly diary of sorts. Post pictures both drawn and taken, talk about the random shit that happens, considering most of which actually are springboards for something creative anyway. Basically it'd have several purposes. One, something fun for me to do to help rememvber things to go back to and use later. Two, get better with deadlines (Elara, I have SOOOO much unfinished, unscanned work for you from over the years. You have been, I must say, my biggest victim of this. I owe you bunches. ) And several other reasons for doing so. But...if no one takes a look, then it's really not ALL that worth it. So, just throwing this out there, see how many people still use this stuff, etc. |

Wordpress?
I started to use one and was gaining some modest views (one post got a decent retweet chain) but then I soon just dropped my activity. Gotta stay consistent! |

You'll just have to spread it around a lot since it's so easy for anyone to setup a blog thesedays. I'd also recommend wordpress or maybe google blogspot.

I still use LiveJournal, but it's mostly my rants.
Wordpress and BlogSpot come to mind. I know Phoenix uses the latter since he mentioned it in his blog thread in the Muses' Sanctuary. And yes... those pictures... *minor glare* |

Those are all good, but I've become fond of Tumblr....

I tried the whole blogging thing in the past and it was during my teeny bopper years. Decided I wasn't going to blog again unless people were actually reading it / found what I had to say interesting.
It's a good hobby though nonetheless. |

I have a Tumblr. Over two hundred followers who read my story a day challenge I've been doing this past year. I mean, that's a paltry sum compared to most people on there who are in it for the popularity (posting photography, fashion, or reblogging gifs is the easiest way to fame, but I try to steer clear of those shenanigans), but they're a loyal bunch and quite a few of them have become friends. ... *points at the Cairoi post*... *has heart attack*
OMG, a Xeios spotting and a Cairoi post within days of each other! *dies* In all seriousness though, I have always been very against the people with super popular blogs that don't actually post anything. |

Originally posted by Bitmap Bump, I guess? But exactly. I'm not looking to rant and be emo...although my tyraids are quite humorous, so as long as it is making people laugh their asses off, I'm keeping that shit to a minimum. I think the only reason why I'd consider it a "diary" or sorts, is because I get my inspiration for the actual work I do from day to day life. So I mean it more so as a creative expression. Sharing pictures of things and events that make things in my mind tick, and in turn bring it to life somehow. I'd more or less be out of making a hobby out of it, and also getting better at deadlines. **ducks from the glare** and I haven't forgotten. I promise. <3333 Edit: And I've looked into tumblr AND wordpress, and I REALLY like them both...since it'll be a matter of copy and paste, I might as well. I'm REALLY trying to get some "fame" so I can get some commissions to be honest. I actually haven't had hardly ANY time to work on the things I'd do for fun. Money is terrible right now, as most of us are going through. (Last edited by Katana on 08-09-11 12:10 AM) |
