Went by the Dollar Bookstore after lunch and picked up a copy of Carrie Fisher's memoir "Wishful Drinking." It's pretty thin and the font type is HUGE. Should probably get through it by tomorrow.

So far it's pretty much her going, "Yeah, both my parents were famous. I didn't really have a great grasp on reality. That makes me different and therefore more intuitive than you."

Just started reading the Hunger Games, and apparently a movie is already coming out for them, as well. I really liked the premise of the first book (I've only read that one so far)...but the writing was rather poor. Otherwise, I enjoyed the book.

Went by the library yesterday and noticed they finally had the latest graphic novels for the Usagi Yojimbo series, so I've been reading Volumes 22-24. Stan Sakai is the man.

I got ridiculously giddy yesterday at the library since it looks like whoever does the purchasing for the graphic novels finally updated the collection a bit.

So I've got:
Transmetropolitan Vol. 10
Chew Vol. 3
Ooku Vol. 6
Unwritten Vol. 4
Holy Terror (I'd been meaning to get this since Frank Miller's sanity is starting to slip and I hear this one is just AWFUL and falls back on spreading hate toward Muslims. We shall see)
The Death-Ray (Hooray for new things from Dan Clowes)
Evolution: The Story of Life on Earth
Five Very Good Reasons to Punch a Dolphin in the Mouth (And Other Useful Guides) (The Oatmeal!!!!!)

I've been having fun with the Kindle app on my phone, Currently reading Kidnapped by Robert Louis Stevenson, and going through my second read through of Viridis and Devil on a Sparrow's Wing by Calista Taylor... the later two are steampunk romance but I just love the world that she's created! Also, all three books have gotten me speaking like a highlander.

Read Sweet Tooth volume 3. It still continues to be one of the most disturbing series I've ever read.

I'm about halfway through The Hunger Games and they still haven't entered "The Arena" yet. Still it's a good read.

Finished The Hunger Games in a couple days. Would have finished it sooner, but I was either busy or falling asleep.

I'm on the wait list for a copy of Catching Fire, but some Twilight Moms posted the first two chapters on their website, so I've got that, I guess.

I'm most of the way through the third volume of American Vampire, but I should really start into Michael Crichton's Pirate Latitudes since I took it out of library, I'd meant to read it for quite some time now, and it's due next week.

Found a PDF of Catching Fire online and I'm reading it now since I'm probably not going to get a copy from the library any time soon. They have 14 copies, they're all out, and I'm number 10 on the list. Yep.

The Shadow Walkers, Book 1: The Shadow's Birth by Ryan T. Nelson, aka our very own Pockets! It didn't really get to be edited so there are typos, but I am still super proud of him. Right now it's available on Amazon Kindle and there will be a physical print version soon (edited), and book two is nearly done.

You should all totally Aa href="http://www.amazon.com/Shadows-Birth-Shadow-Walkers-ebook/dp/B007C7UU1S">check it out. Just saying. Also, I can loan it to people apparently since I bought it.

Tearing through Mockingjay, the final Hunger Games book.

Since I'm still on the wait list for a hard copy I'm just reading through another PDF I got online. This one's not as clean as the Catching Fire PDF, but oh well.

Read the fourth volume of "Chew" today. It wasn't long at all, and pretty much read through it on the ride home from Mother's Day breakfast down in San Clemente. Then I ran out of things to read since Dad took the long way home.

Still reading through Mockingjay. Just got A Game of Thrones from the library since my hold finally came in. I probably won't get through it in the three weeks I've got it since I'm determined to finish the Hunger Games trilogy.

Finally getting around to finishing the "Y: The Last Man" series. I borrowed the last six books from a girl in my capstone American Studies class a year ago and she's been asking for them back.

Finished Y: The Last Man. It had such an unsatisfying ending, but that's life, huh?

I started trying to read a PDF of Fifty Shades of Grey, noticed it was in first person, went, "Ew..." and deleted my copy of the file. Ugh...

Currently reading a free sample book I picked up at Comic-Con with essays in it about Game of Thrones and The hunger Games.

The GoT one is a sample chapter from a book called Beyond the Wall. Right now it's focusing on the romanticism aspects of the books asserting critiques like that Jaime Lannister is a Byronic hero and that Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen are considered by many to be the most romantic couple in the entire series. So far it's not really spoilerish, despite there being a few choice quotes from books still be to covered by the TV series.

The Hunger Games sample chapter was interesting. It was this woman trying to figure out what Panem (the country in which the entire series takes place) would look like and speculate the anthropological and socio-economic aspects of Katniss' world. Since Panem is supposed to be this country that "rose from the ashes of a place one known as North America," the author is guessing what Panem would be shaped like if our continent experienced extreme earthquakes and other natural disasters, the rise of the ocean due to global warming, etc. Since there's no year tagged to when the events of the Hunger Games occur the author bases everything on her own little theories. Again, it's interesting, but it's almost more of a fan fiction than a true analysis.

A Memory of Light, the last book of the Wheel of Time series. It's 909 pages long and over an inch thick.

So far, it is very action-packed and exciting, and I am only about a third of the way through it (I've been busy/lazy). I must admit though, I am really sad to see it all end since I count this as one of my favorite series... but even I have to admit that 14 books is enough.

Reading A Confederacy of Dunces, which I keep feeling irritated with despite several friends and decades of biblio-critics insisting it's a great read.

It's just that the protagonist is a fat 30-year-old asshole who lives with his arthritic mother and treats her like shit, going on about being a genius since he has his MA in Medieval literature while he sits around eating and watching TV all day.

It's prophetic of my generation, I suppose.

Finished Dunces, and immediately started Pride and Prejudice.

I already know the story from all the movie and mini-series adaptations, but I hadn't actually read it before and on top of that I happened to pick up two fan-written sequels someone wrote for it at a dollar bookstore. I'd like to read it knowing there isn't anything that I missed.
