So, for anyone familiar with The Donkey Show, or the Occupy Eugene movement, this should be interesting for you. It would seem that "The Throbbits" (fans of the Kfly radio show: Donkey Show) have finally gotten sick and tired of a bunch of individuals protesting quiet a random assortment of things, and just chilling out in the parks. From what I'm hearing on the radio, these guys plan on getting a group of people together, to Protest the Protesters, with any crude noise they can find or make use of. So far, they plan on doing this anywhere between Dec 29th, to Jan 9th. What will happen is as they proceed to do their "Occupy chat" noise will be made to silence them, as well as an attempt to push them out of the park, where they are shitting in cans, and not taking showers. (Great place to do this, you know, where kids play, and all.) While I see the Donkupy ending up horribly, the whole order makes me laugh hard. Incase any of you are wondering, these asswhipes are starting to Occupy Medford, Oregon. They are hiding out in my freaking mall. So yes, I'm behind the idea to get rid of these unorganized rabble, because sending in letters to your local government would have made much better progress, then shitting in cans in a child's play park, while holding signs. I'm just sayin. |

The problem with writing letters is that they don't read them. Ever. A friend of mine wrote to our local congressman about SOPA and got the standard "thank you for writing, blah blah" letter... so he responded to it. Got the SAME exact letter in response. So he sent a third one saying that he needs new interns or to read his own damn mail.
I dislike the people that are using Occupy as and excuse to dick around... but I think this is a bit much. ... and why would they occupy Medford? I know it's a county seat and all, but really... why? |

Originally posted by Kaijin Surohm With all due respect, I don't think you have a half a clue what you're talking about. I've done this before, just like Elara. Never gets read, just get a form letter response. You have to make yourself inconvenient to get their attention if you don't have a shitload of money. Unfortunate, but true. |

Originally posted by Elara Ugh, that is so damn annoying. "Thanks but no thanks!" ... Especially in the SOPA case since that needs to die a horrible death. They have all the time in the world to dick around in office and debate, but can't take the time to read letters and actually learn about what they're talking about? GG America. Originally posted by Sorcha Rohan Not all of them are like that though... however that is what the people in power want you to think, so that is how they get presented so they don't get taken seriously. Are there people like that out there? Yes, and they give the movement a bad name... but a lot of them are actually serious. The lazy wannabe people are not the ones that are camping out in tents in the snow outside of the biggest banks and corporations in the country... they are the ones that show up during the day, jerk around and try to bum money off people, then go home. THOSE people need their asses kicked because they are delegitimizing the people actually trying to accomplish something. |

I have mixed feelings about the entire movement. Philly didn't get the nasty publicity that NY did, but the people got out of hand. WAY out of hand. I am in Center City nearly every day, and out and about within City Hall. They got REALLY dirty and destroyed the place, but they were just plain mean. Right from the get go. And it pissed me off to no end, because I supported their idea. But I wasn't going to stop going in and out of work (Well, internship, but still.) just because I agreed with them. If anything, I used my position working alongside our State Rep to prove the case as much as humanly possible. And the thing is, our Rep is a really cool dude, and actually TRIED getting something done. He was the one that pushed for the porta potties and free food they would get while there...
But too many of them got nasty and just destroyed the place. I thought the idea was genius. And whether I agreed or not, in the beginning, I was still excited about it. It was a peaceful way for them to be heard, and before I really started paying attention to it, I went into it with the mindset that whether I agree or not, it was something to be learned from. It just ended up not being handled right and became more of a nuisance. There were tons of rape cases, as well as lots of other bullshit. I couldn't leave the office one day until security was able to escort me out. Everytime I walked out they would throw shit, and one bitch even came up and sucker punched me when I tried getting out to go home. That didn't end well for her, by the way. But still...I'm just pissed that a good thing has gotten ruined by most of them. Not all, but honestly? Most. And that's sad. |

Here's what's really sad right now. Yes I will make more on Unemployment... then I will with my GI Bill. | |||

Originally posted by Sorcha Rohan Which, in all honesty, with incentives like those, I can't REALLY blame someone for being on Unemployment. That is sad. |

Originally posted by Astrophel Sadly, I do know. I know full well letters are futile. But in the long scheme of things, It's better to send in a letter, and not have anything done, then do something like this, and piss off the higher ups to make even more strict, pointless rules. I forsee bad things happening due to this, with rules and regulations, and it'll just cause more people to be upset, and another protest movement to happen. >shrug< |
