Obsessively re-watching season 1 and realizing how many details were stuffed in there that I'm only catching now.

Amusingly, not two days after The Oatmeal posted that comic about how we all end up pirating Game of Thrones due to high prices and unavailability, the BluRay set dropped from $80 to $35 on Amazon.

If only I had a BluRay player.

The DVD set has much of the same features if I recall.

But yeah, I got it for $35 because I pre-ordered. I will say the dragons look better in bluray than on the original episode we downloaded.

So I completely re-watched the show, making sure I heard, re-heard, and fully comprehended every line uttered and by what character (because before I was like, "Who's that guy? Oh well, I'll figure it out later").

Man, there's just so much detail, but it feels rewarding having done that.

This time around I hated Joffrey more, actually kind of hated Cersei and Jamie less (they have these human moments when you can sort of feel for them. Sort of...), facepalmed through most of the Daenerys scenes near the end of the season, and am just so much more captivated by Robb and Theon.

I didn't realize how much they talked about the Greyjoys, how vicious they fight, pride in having faced them, and then how bloodlustful Theon is. I guess, since I thought he was a Stark the first time I went through the show, I just never thought to think of him when Jory and Jamie are talking about him (Jamie said something like, "I saw that youngest Greyjoy boy up at Winterfell." Jory: "Yeah, Theon. He's a good lad." Jamie: "I doubt it." Then suddenly Jamie didn't want to talk any more).

I still love Arya above all else, along with Tyrion, Ned, and Robb (who has completely entered my top favorites list).

Really looking forward to this next season starting in a couple weeks.

*Cough cough*

Hope that helps.

So I just got back from Day 1 at WonderCon. HBO's entire booth is getting your head Photoshop'd onto a pike, which they'll then post onto Facebook.

Spoiler:
They seriously had these GIANT posters and banners with Ned's head on a fucking pike!!

Banners with this on them: Link

Booooo...

I've got my Hand of the King pin, though.

EDIT: Oh and the guy who played Hodor was in the autograph area. Brandon and I walked by and started giggling like assholes when we passed him going, "We've seen his penis!!" Man, we're jerks.

Posted this on Facebook, but I deleted the post since I thought it might be a bit of a spoiler. Ah well.

Here's another preview for season 2. This one's kinda giving things away. I think. I dunno.

Just for fun, here's George R.R. Martin doing a story time video:

And that alignment thing is so spot on that it is almost scary.

I sort of wonder if Robert and Daenerys should switch places. A lot of people are arguing that Varys and Baelish shouldn't be considered lawful at all, but they act on behalf of the Realm... in a sense.

I almost think Snow should be the person representing chaotic good and not Arya.

For some reason the way George Martin speaks, he reminds me so much of Jamie Hyneman, and the mental image of Jamie reading these stories made me giggle for an embarrassingly long time.

I can see Dany as Chaotic Neutral only slightly... and Robert is not Neutral Good. At least not as we see him now. Back during the Rebellion... maybe... but not once he won the throne.

I'm sure this whole thing will change once the new characters show up in the next season.

Yeah, because in all the previews for the new season they keep showing her yelling about burning cities to the ground among other things.

Almost one week to go!

Totally agree with your spoiler comment. And did the new episode seem short to you? I think it was because they were catching up with all the main characters and so they only spent so much time with each.

It definitely felt short, but as you said, I'm sure it's because we were getting re-acquainted with old favorites and new kids on the block (Stannis, Melisandre, etc).

But, you know, we're also greedy for more, so of course it's always going to feel short. I know I was screaming, "Come on!!" when they showed Arya at the end, but then went to credits.

I wrote a recap on the episode on my friend's website. I don't expect anyone to read it.

I read it, but Word Press is being a dick and keeping me from logging in to comment.

Oh yes, and I am SO happy the wolves actually look like dire wolves now! Yay bigger budget.

I got so stupidly giddy with this latest episode. Mostly over the Arya and Gendry bits.

We FINALLY see the Greyjoys. My curiosity still has not ebbed yet.

And despite all the buzz around Renly in all those YouTube featurettes that HBO has been posting we still have yet to see him this season.

And this episode felt WAAAAAAY TOO SHORT. It's just because there are so many characters that we have to see, so we have to touch on as many of them as possible, I suppose.

I avoided this thread until I watched ep. 2... and yeah, it still seems short since we are bouncing between characters. Overall I have two main criticisms... first, the sex is already getting old. Yeah, it's in the books all the time as well, but not that much. I think HBO is doing it just for the sake of being able to.

Secondly...
Spoiler:
That scene with Stannis and Melisandre... yeah... not in the book. Assumed by many, but not in the book.

Yeah, after years of watching HBO and other "premium" cable shows, I've just started glossing over the sex, nudity, and violence figuring it's their idea of adding to the show's gritty "realism." Kind of a shame that they added that bit about those two, though.

Good news today, as GoT has been renewed for a third season. Apparently since "A Storm of Swords" is too long for one season, it's being broken into two.

Anyway, I'm surrounded by people who've read the books and are dropping in spoilers thinking that they aren't.

Spoiler:
Becky started asking me about Tyrion's appearance, since she hasn't been watching the show, but has read the books. She suddenly goes, "Well, you know, he's gonna get a whole lot uglier soon since he'll be getting hurt and get this big scar across his face."

WHAT THE FUCK?!

Oh, I hate when people do that. Ben and I have read the books, but his mother hasn't so we've been really good. I think the most we've said is "shit is going to hit the fan."

... you should totally read the books though, they are awesome. If I wasn't on the other side of the country, I would lend them to you.

And yay, Season Three!!!

Spoiler:
I will say though that I am curious how they are going to pull that off when it does happen.
