Friend just sold us his mini-fridge for $40. I can't wait to finally live in a world where I control whether or not I get to eat my leftovers or not have to hide drinks, bread, cheese, etc.

Cold beer and liquor and LEMONADE IN MY ROOM. Holy fuck.

That's been a dream of mine.

Do they just use a normal outlet?

Nice!

Let's see... I get three days off of work in a row. Then just two days until the honeymoon! Yay for cruises!

For the record, marriage still doesn't feel any different.

As far as I can tell it uses regular outlets. I mean, most of these things are either in people's offices or dorm rooms. We haven't plugged it in, though, since we've been away. Pretty much just hauled it home and went to bed, packed our bags in the morning and left. Haven't had the chance to even move all the shit in our room to put it where it's going to have to go.

But speaking of being away, I'm pretty happy with how I spent today. I shot a 1928 Thompson, drank in the oldest bar in Vegas, drank at the Heart Attack Grill (it's definitely not as good as it was when it was in Arizona), drank at perhaps my new favorite tiki bar, and hit up the Zombie Apocalypse Store.

Despite having so much shit to do, I'm happy about a few things.

First off, my friend Nakey Heather had her baby (while she was one of the ladies posting belly progress and maternity photos, she was the least annoying about it).

My friend, Navy, became a naturalized citizen recently and got to vote for the first time this week.

I may be taking my cousin and her daughter around to different places between performances. That'll be fun.

Brandon's letting me borrow his car to drive down to Ramona to attend my friends' support group to help try to convince CPS to let them keep their daughter.

And yeah, I had a pretty awesome trip in Vegas. Did all the stuff mentioned in the previous post, as well as went to a "Game of Thrones" episode screening at a comic shop, went to a topless bar with Bran, walked the Strip a few times, got pizza from the secret pizza place, and attended high tea at the Mandarin Oriental.

And woo, going to gaming tonight. Good times.

Happy to be keeping busy.

Happy my friend from Australia will be in town next week.

Happy "Harvester of Sorrow" has finally ceased.

Happy the air conditioning has turned back on.

Happy to get to have a family breakfast on Sunday with my cousins and Maddie.

Uh.. I dunno... happy that I didn't have to share my bathroom with the house guests.

Happy that I am helping to improve my friend's life.

My now former coworker, Kaleb, just started a new job driving for Frito-Lay's in a salaried position. It's a major change for him, and he is taking it as a chance to turn his life around, starting with cleaning out his neglected apartment (for the record, three years of depression and hording is bad). We've spent the last week cleaning the place out, scrubbing it down and trying to get it all nice and clean again. The results are great, and it's nice to see him so genuinely happy.

The only downside is the flare up of all my dust allergies.

Your post makes me happy Elara.

But yeah dust allergies are the worst. I can't wait for fall to hit to open up those windows a bit.

I've had windows open when it isn't too humid. Today it's cool enough that I had to put on a light jacket when I put on my pjs.

My friend, Katie, is in town from the Bay Area, staying in our spare room downstairs. We took her to Solvang for her first time on Saturday and yesterday went to a Civil War re-enactment and then Shakespeare in the park. Not sure where we're going today, but I'm happy she's here.

I'm going through a weird funk right now that involves feeling worthless and as though no one likes me, and further that I care too much about what people think of me.

So what am I at least happy about right now?

Happy that I've got a big trip coming up in September.

Happy that my boss gave me the time off for it.

Happy that Shakespeare in the park season is almost here.

Happy that Mom is interested in doing tea at the Huntington with me.

Happy that I'll probably stand a decent chance of finding another job when I get back from the trip.

Happy that my hip and back pain seem to be ebbing.

Happy that several of the clients seem really happy to see me every day. They give me necklaces and bracelets that they make and buy things for me when they go on shopping trips with other groups. At least they make it worthwhile.

I'm happy that I'm going to Cedar Point in a few weeks (it's this theme park in Ohio that supposedly puts Magic Mountain to shame)

I'm happy that I have two potential job prospects... Butler Area School District and PNC Bank. I will take the better sounding one/more secure one... which is sadly probably the bank job.

I'm happy that I have amazing friends that share my concern over recent events.

I'm happy that it seems the wasps are gone from the bathroom light fixture. Showering with that buzzing sound was NOT comforting.

I'm happy that I can drink coffee again. The idea that my stomach didn't like it anymore was making me sad.

In a slight funk again. Need to count some blessings.

Happy that it turns out the psychotic client who can't even take looking at the ocean without going into a murderous rage is actually not in my nature club this cycle. We're based near San Pedro, which would have made it such a bitch to find places we could take her that would still be cool for the other clients.

Happy I get to work with Irma three days a week.

Happy I just got a couple batches of tea samplers ordered online. Woo, happy things to expect in the mail.

Happy I'll have a paid day off next week. Granted it's to go to different doctors appointments, but still woo getting to do things in the middle of the day if I want to.

Happy to have had what I consider the greatest guacamole in the world. It's goddamn orgasmic.

Happy that I found another clip of Maggie Smith as Beatrice in a 1967 production of "Much Ado About Nothing." And this one has Benedick in it.

Happy that Audra will be in town next week. I almost wish I were just going down to San Diego to visit that weekend, though since there's so much going on down there that weekend -- Twainfest, Anniversary of the End of WWII Celebration on the Midway. ARGH. Still... happy she's coming to visit before she moves to Scotland.

Happy that my usual peach and nectarine guy knows Brandon and me now and always cuts us a deal and then throws in a few free nectarines into our bag after I've paid.

Happy that I got full time at work. It looks good on a resume.

Happy that I have adorable cats.

Happy that I am going on a cruise in November.

Happy that I get to have curry tomorrow. Curry!!

Great stuff, Elara! Happy to hear there are things making you so.

Happy my boss just approved Irma and me for an all-day trip. It'll be a first for both of us.

Happy I've got a paid holiday coming up in a couple weeks, and that the all-day trip coincides with it.

Happy I went to Universal Studios over the weekend, invited by friends who got free tickets from their work. The pleasure was more in being with friends, since the park is not all that great, itself. At least, not until the Harry Potter portion opens. They had a store dedicated to the merch they're going to be selling in it. Most things are $30+. No wonder they were sending Whimsic Alley cease-and-desist orders. They were making better quality stuff and selling it for cheaper.

Happy I bought a Japanese peace lily for my room.

Despite my tone in the Fuck You thread, I actually had a pretty great time on the trip.

I'm happy we got to visit three parts of Croatia, Dubrovnik definitely not the least of the group. Happy we got to take an awesome Game of Thrones tour with a guide who's been in several episodes of the show, a huge geek for the whole fandom, and carried blown up screen caps of the show to illustrate each location that was on the show and the angle at which you can see it. Everywhere you turn you're seeing another part of King's Landing.

I'm happy we essentially toured walled medieval cities in the Adriatic that haven't changed that much -- Korcula (pronounced Kor-chu-la), Valleta, Malta, and Kotor, Montenegro (pronounced Kah-tour) were all pretty freaking great alongside Dubrovnik.

Happy to get to tour Malta the way we did -- that being seated in the back of an open jeep driven by a surly, retired British woman named Babs. We were tearing around the countryside and checking out some of the sights. We sadly didn't do Mdina, but I'm all for returning. Brandon was just sitting there drinking beers while we're driving around.

Happy to get to say I've been to Messina now since "Much Ado About Nothing" is my absolute favorite Shakespeare play.

Happy to have gotten to see a wild sea turtle while in port in Argostoli, Greece.

Happy I bought Mom lots of religious souvenirs. Didn't shop much for myself, but I got her things in the Vatican, Saint Mark's Basilica in Venice, and a carving done by a monk on Mount Athos.

Happy we got to wander around Venice for as long as we did. Happier to have found the church that was in "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" and discovering it's currently a museum on Leonardo da Vinci.

Happy to see all the things we did in Rome. We really fit a lot into the two full days we allotted for visiting there along with our travel days.

Happy to have not been pickpocketed. That goes for both Rome and Venice.

Other non-trip happiness:

Happy Bran and I went to see "These Paper Bullets," another take on "Much Ado About Nothing" when we got back.

Happy it's apple cider season.

Happy that the weather was pretty good on the cruise (just humid).

Happy that Kaleb enjoyed flying (he had never been in a plane before, and was really anxious about it... so I got to bask in the feeling of being right)

Happy that our dining companions were actually fun to talk to.

Happy that we had amazing crew to help us. Seriously, the ship itself had some issues, but the crew was just phenomenal.

Happy that no pick-pocketing occurred in any locations.

Happy that we got to have fresh coconut on the private island thanks to Ben and Kaleb being weird and awesome.

Happy that Kaleb's job interview went well yesterday (he got laid off right before the trip).

Happy that I got to drive his rental car while he was in the interview. It was a 2016 Toyota Corolla S... and it was shiny.

Happy that I did not hit the wild turkeys that crossed in front of me yesterday.

Happy that Kaleb got me the Civ 5 game with all expansions as a birthday gift. Gonna go play that now.

Happy my Canadian friends will be visiting soon.

Happy that Gallifrey is on the horizon and we'll be working on it.

Happy that we might be going to Arizona next month (or at least the next month after.)

Oh, and yeah, I guess I'm happy I got engaged.
