Not while I was driving. But yeah I've been a passenger during a few blow-outs, I'm usually the one who changes it.
What is something you consider beneath you that your friends or other peers are into? |

Disney? I dunno... my friends have really diverse tastes. Around here there is a cultural obsession with backwoods activities like "mudding" (literally driving around, usually in a truck, in a giant mud pit thing)... none of my friends do it, but our peers do.
What is your go-to food when you are feeling sick? |

Frankly, I tend to inadvertently starve myself when I'm sick (mostly when I'm flu-ish and the couple weeks thereafter). If I feel like I might throw it up again after eating, I don't want it. When I have colds, I also often just go to bed without dinner, though I had my usual high fiber cereal for breakfast and salad or whatever for lunch.
If I'm up to it, though, I'll sometimes make soup with chicken broth, brown rice, and Trader Joe's soy chorizo as the base, and throw in whatever vegetables we've got laying around the house and refrigerator. Which reminds me, I gotta pick up some cayenne pepper some time before the next time I make gumbo. If it was guaranteed that everyone from your graduating class was going to be there, would you attend your high school reunion? (I was never contacted for mine) |

No. I would definitely not go. Fuck high school. Yeah.
Do you have something you consider your signature? |

Signature what? Like, just something I am known for, or something I use as my signoff? The later would probably be my owl of Minerva paraphrase. Otherwise I would assume my signature thing that I am known for is my nerdy rpg obsession.
When you hear that little voice that tells you everything is pointless, how do you fend it off? |

Re: the signature thing. It was open for interpretation and you pretty much nailed it.
Now regarding that voice, that's something I haven't really defeated on my own either, but I guess I end up listening to it... A LOT. The trick is to remember that life really can be pointless (we're just goddamn specks in this wide universe), but it's your life, your existence, and you have the responsibility to find a point to it all that works for you. When a friend was going through depression during her unemployment (she was in no danger of homelessness since her gas, food, and housing were covered), I told her to try volunteering and doing something that helped others who were less fortunate than herself. It was around Christmas time and so she started doing gift stuff for poor children and it made her feel like she had a purpose and less depressed. Even in feeling like I'm helping make lives worthwhile for people with developmental disabilities, I find myself periodically going through fucked up mental states that I have to fight my way out of and not stew about in public. My work is like Disneyland -- we have plastered on smiles all day. Man, I'm rambling... Where was I going with all this? Hm.. Well, I don't really have an answer to the question, but there are many more abstract ways of looking at it. It's sort of like pondering the meaning of life. If you don't really have a faith, like I do, it's easy to just think this was all a hilarious accident that life on earth exists altogether and that there really isn't a meaning, to begin with. I'm still wandering through this life feeling like I haven't found my purpose, but on the optimistic side it could been seen that I'm just all potential and that I could still do anything. I really don't think I answered anything here. Sorry... Have you ever had one of those, "It was really all about the journey all along, and not the destination," experiences? |

It was actually a helpful answer. Thanks. I'm kinda having issues if you haven't gathered.
Um... I don't know if I have really had one of those experiences or not. If I did, my crappy memory has let me forget it. What new series are you most looking forward to this fall? |
|||

I guess I just don't get all that excited about new shows. I tend to let them go for a season and then binge-watch them all in one shot to see if I'd really like them (what I've done with "Game of Thrones," "Orange Is The New Black," "True Detective," etc.)
It's just a bitch when you're following along with a show, week to week, and then it ends up sucking and you still hang on to see how the next one goes. I went through that with "Heroes" and am going through that with this season of "True Detective." What's more I don't really know what's coming out. Just for you, though, I looked up the fall season. I'm sure I'm going to end up watching "Heroes Reborn" as it airs. Hah, I actually forgot this was coming back. And I guess I'm probably going to end up watching Kurt Sutter's "Bastard Executioner" since Bran and I were pretty into "Sons of Anarchy" near the end of the series. What is your happy place like? |

Um... good question. I think it is where coffee and dark chocolate live. When I am stressed, it is what I want. When I get a chance to have it, I relax. Besides losing myself in video games or books, it's all I've got. Well, that and kittens... when they are being cute.
Do you have a morning routine? If so, what is it? |

Yes, but it's very lackluster. Since my back and hips haven't been hurting so much these days, I've not had to get up at 5:30 anymore for stretches, so I've lately been waking up at 6 (though I haven't been sleeping well and tend to wake up at 4 and 5 and try to fall back asleep to little avail.)
Anyway, I mess around on the computer until somewhere between 6:30 or 6:45, whereupon I finally go downstairs and fix myself a bowl of cereal, half-Trader Joe's High Fiber with cinnamon dusted on top, half-Cinnamon-flavored Puffins with 2% milk. I eat, go to the bathroom, shower, dress, and then yell downstairs at around 7:12 to see if Mom's ready to leave. Usually she's still not fully dressed and I've still got to put my shoes on. I pull fruit out of my mini fridge, gather together my phone, wallet, keys, and book I plan to read that day, and wake up Brandon to kiss him goodbye, tell him I love him, and head downstairs. There I take my vitamins with one of my chilled bottles of water, pull my Trader Joe's salad out of the refrigerator, and carry all of my shit to the Rav, which I back out of the garage (since Mom can't seem to do so without nearly taking out the Volvo.) We drive to her work, listening to NPR, A/C at its lowest setting. Once she's there, I drive the car to my work, where I clock in at 8:25, take Arnold to the bathroom, write my name on my stuff and put it in the center's fridge, exchange my bag for my clipboard in my locker, figure out what club I've got that day with which clients, and do whatever chore I'm assigned that morning (usually sweeping something) before pulling files for the AC I'm with, and then gathering my clients starting at 9, as they arrive for the day. It's really not all that interesting, and it's the same thing five days a week. Saturday morning is pretty much just running to buy fruit at the farmers market, while Sunday is getting breakfast with my parents before gallivanting off to Whole Foods with Brandon before we go about the rest of the day. Have you ever realized you'll never get around to doing certain things in your lifetime that you, as a child, thought you'd do someday? (Last edited by Rogue on 08-03-15 11:15 PM) |

Yeah, I had much higher expectations as a child. I thought I would have kids and a career by my age... though honestly, I've hit the point where I realize that I don't actually want to have kids. I prefer sleep. Career... well... I have the degree... just not the actual job. Working on that.
I also haven't been to Canada yet. I wanted to travel the world, and at least I've made it to Mexico, Ireland, and a few places in the Caribbean... but you'd think that I would have at least made it up north by now. Do you prefer your cold beverages with or without ice? |

Depends on what it is. Iced coffee, lemonade, and such I'd rather had ice, but beer or things I drink straight out of a can or bottle I'd rather didn't.
There was a time when I used to only drink soda and was adamant that it had NO ice. Once, when the service was so bad at Norm's, and they brought me Mountain Dew with ice in it, I fished the ice out with my bare hand and just left it in the center of the table. This was many years ago (when Pat and Christina were still a will-they or won't-they) and a time when I decided I just didn't care how immature I looked doing so. Have you ever been hit on by members of your sex? |

Yes. It is flattering in a way, but at the same time, I am weirded out when anyone hits on me, same sex or not.
And ha... Norm's.... sadly I kinda miss them. What is the food establishment that you are absolutely tired of going to? |

I haven't really hit the, "Oh my god, fuck no, I'm tired of that!!" in a while. That was more of an issue before I was employed and was stuck with either Costco or Del Taco.
I guess the closest I've come is when I want ramen (which is pretty much all the time) and we've got our reliable -- though terribly busy -- favorite place, Shin-Sen-Gumi, but I always want to try new other places to see if any of them are any better or just as good. In the end, they're never as good as Shin-Sen, but whenever we do just go straight to it I always feel like we're just settling. I think I've gotten more bored with ending up in certain places. On Sundays Brandon and I drive around the South Bay, near my work, and we've ended up by Venice Beach more than a few times. The boardwalk holds no mystique for me these days, but Bran likes taking walks there. I ended up at the boardwalk on Saturday when a friend visiting from out-of-town wanted to go. If you could live within the world of one anime series, which would it be? |

Or maybe some series as a tentacle monst-... If you could be in any videogame world, what would it be? |

SMW - a hacked world, though.
It would be odd but I'd bring the SNES as well, so I'm playing reality, lol. ---------- What site would you want to hack more than anything, and force it to redirect to some AcmlmBoard? |

Big Cheez-Its, probably. I'm just glad they still taste the way I remember, because Goldfish are immensely disappointing.
My co-worker and I actually made baked mac 'n' cheese with Cheez-Its crumbled up on top instead of breadcrumbs as a project with the clients. Yes, it was goddamn awesome. Is there a series for which you're having anxiety waiting for an ending? |

There are several for me, mostly consisting of people's online novellas. They'll be so consistent with updates and then just drop off the face of the earth and never finish.
Actually published things I've been waiting on endings for include "Vinland Saga" and "Usagi Yojimbo." Both writers are on hiatus. In the case of UY, though, I have been reading that one for more than a decade and Stan Sakai's wife just passed away, so I'm not all that pressuring regarding it. Where do you wander to when you have nothing else to do, but don't quite feel like going home yet? |

I take the bus a lot, so usually if that's the case then I'll just get off early and walk the rest of the way.
