Do you guys have any experience with sun lights/lamps? I'm really considering getting one sometime now. This has been the grayest year ever and I think it does kind of bring me down a bit. I wonder if those lamps actually work.

I don't really have experience with either sun lamps or tanning beds. We've got them here, but most people are wary of skin cancer, which we just get sometimes by purely existing in California.

We're expecting another El Nino, but it's only going to really help us out of this severe drought if it causes lots of rain and snow in the northern part of the state. Here's hoping.

In the meantime, it's been terribly humid here. My hair is frizzed out and we're all sweating all the livelong day.

It was insufferably hot this weekend. My shoes' soles melted walking from Union Station to Little Tokyo to meet a friend. There were people lion dancing in Olvera Street in 104 degree heat.

And now they're talking about THE BLOB, this heated water coming from the Pacific Northwest, might block EL NINO from coming in and dumping rain on us this winter. EL Nino wasn't really pegged as a drought-breaker, but it would have helped us in SoCal. NorCal still needs snow to make drinking water.

Wednesday was in the 60's here and it was glorious. Had the windows open to get some fresh air in here. It really shows how bad my indoor allergies are, I breath so much better outside and with the windows open (when I think it's the opposite for most?).

Back to 90's though. Can't wait for summer to end.

All I know about sun lamps is that they are bright and they place them in the worst places at my work for demos.

So we had a ton of rain at the beginning of July, then weeks of nothing... then a random deluge that produced and EF 0 tornado right by where I live.

Oh... and it's been so humid all summer that I could practically swim in the air. Not fun.

Yesterday was 35 degrees, which is pretty high for the UK.
And today it pissed down like mad.

The last time it was that hot was when there was a heatwave last month.

That is quite hot for the UK. Damn.

Here in Southern California it's been in the 100s, which is about that. It rained for about 10 minutes on Tuesday. Didn't do anything but make it absurdly humid afterward.

Can you Kansans show us what rain dance you're doing? We could really use it.

Please take all of it. It's rained so much this year that my apartment smells of mold. And I'm on the third floor.

We're anticipating El Nino, which all Californians are praying will bring lots of rain and snow to us. Again, it would only help if it brings a fuckton of snow to NorCal, where it's collected and becomes the state's drinking water. California doesn't really have a method for collecting and using rainwater.

We're going through a lot of bureaucracy vs. environmentalists to get us desalination plants, but it's a very, very slow process.

And of course, now we have to worry about the BLOB possibly preventing El Nino from hitting us at all.

91% humidity here right now.

lol, what's the max anyways? I just know ~40 is a more normal range.

Apparently our overly hot weather is what's causing an above average number of shark attacks. Wheee.

Today was the first day in awhile that wasn't hot and humid as hell... it actually felt like a fall day. It was nice. Except for the getting rained on and having to run to the car because I forgot my umbrella and hoodie.

Where I am right now, it went from sunny to full freaking downpour pretty quickly. All the guys selling selfie sticks conveniently switch to selling umbrellas and ponchos. Ended up fairly damp since I refused to buy any because I had two packed umbrellas back at the room.

So we are now having weather that jumps 30 degrees over the course of the day. Drops to like 50 at night and 81 in the day. At least the humidity has not come back.

I never thought I'd say this, but I think I'd rather have winter right now than more of this humidity!

Had hoped the weather would break by the time we got back to California. NOPE.

Get the memo, SoCal, it's FALL.
