Been hearing a lot about this over the last couple days, and frankly it continues to piss me off.
So ... an 18-year-old girl was taking a selfie while driving 107 mph in her Mercedes (some stories report her friend in the car says she was doing more than 113 before slowing down) using Snapchat's speed filter which uses GPS to show how fast a person is going when they take the selfie. She then slammed into a car carrying this couple, causing the husband to have permanent brain damage and render him unable to work and support himself. One of many links going around People are so furious that the girl, bloodied head and laying on a gurney, posted a selfie reading, "Lucky to be alive" across her face, right after the collision. The aftermath selfie is salt in the wound for sure. What an idiot. Girl would die on an island without her phone.
God help us all with this new generation. And I definitely hope Snapchat gets burned hard for having such a stupid feature like that on there. |

Her family is suing Snapchat saying it is their fault the accident happened. Seriously, fuck them. | |||

Incompetent parents and child.
People like this need to be blown up or something for their stupidity. |

That post-crash selfie just beyond pisses me off because it reminds me of a similar incident that happened when I was at LBCC.
This motorcyclist was revving his engine at the stoplight on Carson, right in front of the school, trying to challenge this other motorcycle who had just pulled up next to him to a race. The second guy, wisely, didn't take him up. Still, the first guy took off speeding, doing over 80 mph, and suddenly collided with a car turning onto Faculty Ave, immediately exploding and setting the car on fire. The professor, trapped in her car which was engulfed in a fireball, was eventually pulled from the vehicle, covered in third degree burns. She eventually died in the hospital in agony. The motorcyclist had died instantly. In the aftermath, his friends put up a memorial site where they worded it all to sound like it was her fault, saying things like "a car recklessly turned in front of him" and so on. This whole "Lucky to be alive" bullshit just comes off like she survived the heinous stupidity of others. It should read, "I fucked up." |
