By the window, perfect for a quick and easy snatch.

In a completely unrelated topic, what's your address?

Can't sunlight harm the coloring of the hardware?

No pics, but I've been doing a triple monitor battle station for a few years now. Only two monitors though, the third screen being my 50" HDTV! So Steam Big Picture mode works out nicely with that, or watching anime/etc. My secondary monitor is a classic Dell Ultrasharp 201FP I think... so it's one of the last 4:3 business models, it even has S-Video! But yeah I just mainly use it for watching Twitch or whatnot.

I have a Buffalo SNES USB gamepad for my classic emulation needs and then just use an Xbox One and PS4 controller for some modern stuff. Anything keyboard wise I'll just play on my main monitor, finally got a 1080p ASUS last year.

I have a 5-1 HDMI switcher, so on my TV right now I have a PS2 (with an HDMI upscaler adapter), PS3, PS4, Xbox (Component), Wii U, and Switch all hooked up at once.

I have a 40" in my living room, a 32" in my closest, and a ~20" CRT stashed in some corner too. lol

You mentioned the PS2, is that just an adaptor that goes back into the VIDEO cable thing so you can hook up to HDTV without a (spare) component out, which outputs the same as a component signal - or is an actual 1080p upscaler? I can imagine that if it's the former it can - via GS Mode Selector (GSM) for a modded PS2 - go to 1080i or 1080p on NTSC games

I wish! haha Yeah it just outputs like a component signal, so I think it maxes at 480p. I have something similar for the Wii, which I haven't had hooked up in years now (might box up the Wii U soon too), but yeah I just didn't want to deal with multiple component cables... since modern HDTV's tend to only have one input for them now.

I would link you to the PS2 "upscaler" I bought, but it's been years and now Amazon has dozens of them that review terribly, so I guess I got super lucky with a good random one. They all look like weird Chinese knockoffs and stuff too. I like mine but it would be a gamble trying to get one now I guess.

Eventually, I would love to get something like a Framemeister.

Haha, they cost a lot and don't deal with PS1 games very well (because of switching from 480i to 240i mode). Just buy a memory card with FMCB (about £5 here), update the contents from a USB stick - it's really easy to mod a PS2, and then put the GSM elf somewhere, launch it with uLE on the PS2 and then you have yourself a way of outputting 720p/1080i/1080p on the PS2

Speaking of the PS1 you can also force a 480i mode on GSM, so you can play PS1 games over component on the PS2 - though I recalled a post you say you use the PS3 for that

I'd say your decent component > HDMI out is better than an actual component cable these days given how many cheap component cables ruin the picture quality with ghosting and whatnot...

And also: I'm really happy you, Rogue et al keep the place alive. I love coming here, it feels like a family of some sorts... ^^

Yeah, I love using my PS3 for PSX gaming since you can create near infinite virtual memory cards! I bought an adapter years ago to get all my old memory cards backed up on it too, somehow salvaged all my childhood saves hehe. I also kind of like the PS3's smoothing option more than the PS2's, but it's still case by case. Wireless controller! And I put in a 1TB last year, so my PS3 is rock solid.

That said, now that I've been watching some streamers more thesedays on Twitch, I noticed most speedrunners use PS2's for PSX gaming. Turns out... they load a lot faster! That's good to know but I guess it's not a huge deal to me. I remember Xenogears having an issue playing through a PS2, it has this super high chance of freezing after beating a really hard late game boss, I remember having to beat the boss a few times and finally got lucky for it to get past that part haha. Very weird random issue for that game and PS2's.

I just realized a week or two ago my HDTV actually has 4 HDMI inputs... how did I miss this? lmao, oh well, I still like having the HDMI switcher around.

I guess I'll also mention I have two Cyberpower 850VA battery power bricks, one for my TV and all this setup, then another for my computer and stuff. The power has flickered off and on here at my apartment, so it's some really nice peace of mind since these things kick in and keep things running.

I haven't had a power cut here in a long time but that sure does sound handy

Also that PS3 VMC thing is deffo useful. The MC adaptor actually goes for a lot of money now since FMCB became more popular with PS2s... ^^

I bought a new PS2 slim last year, the 9000 model. But my old 7000 model might be fun to mod.
(it was starting to have disc reading trouble, but I suspect FMCB might work perfectly with it since it still runs fine otherwise!)

The 9000x models with a certain FW can use FMCB, I think 2.17 or something like that (I'll have to check).

The 7000x were the last to have hardware emulation for PSX games, and the last model to have a HDD slot, so use OPL and launch off the HDD your games
