As you know, the PSP will be hitting US shores pretty soon. And I was wondering, what are your opinions on this new competition for the Nintendo DS? Personally, I feel that the NIntendo DS was a complete and totally failure. Oh wow, I added another screen!!! w00+!
Then again, the extra screen didn't help THAT much. Here you have the PSP now. Sure, you have a battery life of approximately 2 hours. But tell me something...are you honestly going to play the PSP for 2 hours non stop? I dont' think so...(that is unless you want to go blind). Now honestly, the PSP may not be out yet, but I believe that it towers over the competition. With PSX graphics and some very well known titles being transfered to the PSP such as Dynasty Warriors, Devil May Cry, and GTA as well as movies such as FFVII Advent Children, I believe that the PSP will be THE handheld system of this year. |

I don't know much about it... i just know that one be getting one... i got a DS and i'm perfectly happy with it... i have no need to spend the major buckets of cash that i'd have to fork over to get one and a couple of games... 250 for the system alone...50 for each game movie or what ever you might get there after.... i'm a poor man... and the DS is definetely the poor man's system... | |||

I was in the middle of posting my longer explination of the topic of the thread when the site went down for maintenance yesterday...so heres a shorter version because im sick of typing...Things you should know before you read: Im a Nintendo fanboy, Nintendo has dominated the handheld market for years even with better handhelds.
I believe that even though this is Sony's first handheld console, that it will prove to be competition for Nintendo. Remember when video games came out and people thought it was a fad that would flop? People have the same thoughts about the DS...My only Defence is that, while DS may not have had good launch titles, or many good ones to this day, I believe that it will progress especially when the Wi-Fi system is set up. I love my DS and its capabilities and when Wi-Fi is ready, hotspots can be used to game other players across the nation. |

The DS isn't a failure, it's just doing a lot better in Japan than it is here. 500,000 sales were made during it's first week of release.
And I own one. I honestly don't play it that much. But I also owned a Gameboy back in the day ... honestly, handhelds just aren't really for me. I think the DS is cool, and fine: the two screens is kind of a goofy concept, but I haven't had a problem with it yet. It can playback GBA games, and for people who complain about the controls, they could maybe stop being ignorant ... and possibly change them in the games ... Options! The PSP looks better though, just because it can do more than just play games. That's what's gotten me interested. Eventually I'll probably get one, if I get a job and get that kind of money, but for now ... handhelds just really don't interest me, the DS proved that. |
