I just wanted to know what you though of window the OS and Microsoft. I personaly find that Windows the OS should be distroyed because it is a practicly worthless OS that is compleatly full of holes. Though however if Windows was to be made a open source project then I feel that it could be turned around and either incorperated into a more Linux feel or atleast made to be much less of a buggy hole filled piece of crap. Also I would think Microsoft would be better off making Window a Open sorce project and just work on making there Office and other progams better. Since it is clear to me that Microsoft has no real intentions of either fixing there OS or ditching the broken code. Since in its earlyer days the code and OS was fine since it was before the days of the internet and anyone really needing a OS that wasn't vulnerable to well lets just say EVERYTHING on the internet. Even there IE is a ugly and outdated piece of software. So in short it would seem to me that Microsoft would be much better of just making windows open sorce and working on its other projects rather than sinking the HUGE amounts of time and effort into fixing a program that has almost gone the way of the dodo. Also if they wanted they could do what Linux did and make a Professional version of a open sorce version of windows.

I think that even if Windows decided to make a Unix/ *n?x based operatiting system it wouldn't be open source by any means.

I mean, look at OSX. It's a popular *n?x OS but not open source.

Windows began to become crap when they decided that putting Internet Explorer directly in the OS was a good idea. I wish they'd do a Windows 95-like system using NTSF file system (Win95's shell was pretty fast, really)

I think you mean NTFS

And personally I think the NTFS file system is utter crap. It still suffers from extreme fragmentation.

Yeah, I always mess up these letters

But compared to FAT16, NTSF is godly.

Yes, but that's not really saying much at all.

Especially compared to Linux and BSD file systems like UFS2, EXT3 and Reiser4.

I liked the Windows 95 file browser. I REALLY did.

If they coupled that with Windows 2000 I may consider installing windows again one day.

But honestly, I don't think I could use a Windows operating system again except maybe to go to LAN parties. (and most of them play games on linux like Enemy Territory and Unreal 20004)

Have you heard of ReactOS? http://www.reactos.com/
