Not too long after you set out on your journey you finally reach your destination: The great and beautiful kingdom in which the grand and famous Supreme Trainer resides- Avalus, a medieval kingdom with futuristic assets. You walk through the people-filled streets and admire the liveliness of the place. Odd-shaped hover-carriages glide just a couple above the ground and pass you with a constant, noisy hum. Someone offers you a ride to see the trainer and you gladly accept. Upon arriving at the gates of the Grand Palace you are escorted to the royal training center where the trainer awaits. A few other people are there as well, sparring with each other in the background. The trainer, older, but strong looking, walks up and welcomes you, then suggests to get started. "Well, young warrior, we have much to do. In order for you to survive out in the world as a fighter you must learn just how to do it. That is what I am going to help you with today. You will learn just about everything there is to know on how to fight. You will go through 9 lessons during this session, of which some will be together. Now, let's waste no time. The first subject will be attacking and magic usage. Everybody should know how to do these, yes, but it is good to review even the basics. Your basic attack is nothing more than trying to hit your opponent. You describe what you are doing and what the attack will do, but not so that you control if he gets hit. Magic is the same way. You use a spell and say what it does. I will not go further into this because you should already know this. So, what I want for you to do is to attack me physically, and then if you use magic, cast a spell at me. (Last edited by Cyro Xero on 04-12-05 09:06 AM) |

" I don't really use magic, but here ya go."
Pat Meth walked calmly up to the trainer, pulled out his gun, aimed it carefully at the trainer's head, and fired. |

[I apologize about the wait]
The bullet you fired quickly veered off around the Supreme Trainer's head and struck a wall behind him. He nooded his head in acknowledgement and continued on. "Hm, a simple enough attack. No feeling to it, but an attack nonetheless. Next I'll will tell you about spell charging. In this realm, the casting of high level magic spells requires you to gather enough energy for it. A level one or two spell does not need a great amount, therefore you are able to use them instantly. Anything beyond a level two spell has to be "charged". The amount of time needed is called a "post". One post of charging is needed for a level three spell. Two posts are needed for level 4, and the amount of posts required keeps raising by one for each level you want to use. Be careful about when you want use a high level spell, for you cannot attack or defend while doing so, making yourself vulnerable. However, setting up a defense beforehand is a strategy you can use. Now, I want you to use a post charge a spell and then cast it on me during the next one. If you do not use magic, then you can simply use one of your skills. If you have no high level skill either then we will simply proceed with the next lesson. (Last edited by Cyro Xero on 04-18-05 09:45 AM) |

"Well this is embarassing. Not only do I not have magic, I don't have any "skills" persay either. So I guess we have to skip to the next lesson...

Do not be ashamed of a lack of power. Skills and magic are used to help in battles, but there has been no fighter who has not stood a chance against warriors with them. Improvement on the abilities you do have will make up for that. Now then, we shall move on to the next lesson, a simple, but very strong skill that is uniqe to this realm and one that may be very useful to you since you have no special skills. It's called a 'Smash Hit'. A Smash Hit is a very strong physical blow to your opponent. All you need to do is focus your strength to your weapon and strike. The blow will send your target flying back with a great amount of damage inflicted, and even has the possibility of sending the opponent out of the area. The Smash Hit, although powerful, is control by a randomizor, something that exists in another realm. This means that on a scale of 1 to 100% accuracy, the higher the accuracy is the more power and damage it will produce. In order for a Smash Hit to connect, it must have an accuracy of 25% or greater. Any less than that and you will miss. However, should you achieve a hit with 95% or higher then your opponent will most likely be knocked out of the area, imitating and "instant kill". One special thing to note is that with good aim and strategy, you can can knock a foe into other enemies and cause indirect damage. Do this with 95% or greater accuracy and may also knock those opponts out of the area as well. A versatile attack the Smash Hit is. All you have to do is perform the attack and let the randomizor decide the fate of it. Now that you know how to do a Smash Hit, I want you to do it to me. If you miss then you will do it over again."
The Supreme Trainer stands ready to receive a blow. He is confident that you will successfully hit him on your first try (Last edited by Cyro Xero on 04-24-05 07:41 PM) |

Pat Meth crouches in front of the Trainer with his knife at the ready. He tenses up, pulls back slightly, and with great concentration, rams upwards with his blade, right into the Trainer's stomach.

The knife, although unable to penetrate the Supreme Trainer's armour, struck and knocked up into the air with 61% strenght. He lands hard and stays on the ground motionless for a moment before getting up, wiping dirt off and walking back to where he previously was.
"Very nice," he says. "It seems you had pretty good strength with that hit, for I was sent up quite far. So, do you understand how the Smash Hit works now? You simply do the attack, and the randomizer will determine the outcome. You also could've just as easily had a high percentage and thrown me all the way to wall on the far side of this courtyard. Either way, the "Randomizer" controls how you hit. In this next lesson, You will learn about strategy and being fair." The Supreme Trainer paces for a moment while beginning his explanation or the teaching. "You may already have good strategy to your attacks, but nonetheless, it never hurts to review them. If you don't, then this will help you think and use them more during your future battles. Most people, when they fight, use the overly common hack-and-slash method and take turns trading blow. Essentially, this is the core of fighting. But, there is an old workplace saying that can be applied to battles- 'Work smarter, not harder'. This means think of something smart to do so you don't have to strain yourself or risk your life as much just to defeat an enemy. To do this you can use strategy. For instance, if there are many foes standing before you, but they are in a straight line behind each other, what are you going to do? You could take them on all at once or one by one, OR, if you are able to fire a piercing projectile you could take them all out in one fell swoop. Look for opportunities to make things easier for you. They WILL present themselves in just about every battle. You simply have to make notice of them. The same applies to avoiding an attack. What do you have in your arsental of attacks or spells that you could use to avoid becoming injured? Remember, an attack spell doesn't have to be used for an attack, but can be used for escape. Now, I am going to give you two scenarios. One is for attacking, while the other is for dodging. For the first scenario, you are in an ice cave. You stand on one ledge above a chasm with an emeny stands on one on the other side. Your attacks are unable to reach, and you're not able to use magic. However, on the ceiling above, a large, very hard, yet light-weight icicle has become loose and is dropping to a position right infront of you. What can you do with it? For the other scenario, several arrows are flying your way after being shot. You are in an open field, but running would take too long, and creating a barrier would prove to be ineffective. What can you do to avoid the arrows? If you can not do anything within your power, do not be afraid to get hit. (Last edited by Cyro Xero on 05-06-05 03:11 PM) |

Scenario 1: I guess I would do something like kick the icicle as it was falling in the hopes that it would fly across and hit my enemy.
Scenario 2: I would twist my armor around so it was ony back, then run close to the ground, constantly throwing up dust around myself to distract the enemy. |

The Supreme Trainer analyzes your idea methods for a moment and then speaks up.
"Very nice idea for the first set up. That is exactly what I had in mind. However one thing to note for the second scenario is that the arrows are already on their way to you. Distracting the enemies would be a good idea only before they fired them off.. Whether or not that would have worked out for you is something that remains to be seen. Nonetheless, you have provided me with a satistactory explaination. So with that, we will continue. You are doing well, today, Pat Meth. There are only 3 more lessons for me to teach you." The wind blows softly through the air as you await his instructions. "This lesson is comprised to two- strenghts and weakness, and personality. First is strengths and weakness. Everybody has them both. Even the gods above us have them both. No living thing is invunerable to everything, and that is why we have strategies for fighting. Speaking of which,t strategy will be tied in with this lesson. Everybody likes to show off their strengths, but not their weakness. It's not something you'd like to do while participating in a battle. Some people have no methods of defending against an attack on their weakness. Thus "cheating" ensues. I implore not to cheat during a battle. It does not looks good, and nobody likes it. It is something you have to deal with on a fair basis. You must find a way to overcome your faults by utilizing your other skills. Let your strengths defend your weaknesses. I'll even let you in on a little secret: if you can, let your weakness be a lure for a trap. Once your enemies take the bait, then strike them down. Of course, finding a way to do this will fall onto your thinking. Be whatever you do, be careful. Now that's not to say that every weakness is a great one. Some may not be too weak at all. The same goes for your strengths. Be careful when applying them. Some fighters will use everything they have and show right in the begining of a battle. That can lead to mistakes, and often times failure. Keep your strengths hidden if you must. You do not need to show them all right away, just bit by bit unless you are in a critical situation. Someone may find a way to get around it and strike YOU down instead. Again, be careful." The Supreme Trainer contiues with his intstructions. "The next lesson is personality. No matter how emotionless someone wants to be, each and every person alive has a personality. There is not much to explain wtih this since you are most likely already aware of everything about it, but it never hurts to review. By having a personality you make yourself a more enjoyable person to be around. It also makes it more enjoyable for the person you are fighting during a battle. Tell me, would you like to fight somebody who has life to him? Most people would not. To many, fights are better when all participants have life in them. Techniques and attacks may even be performed better with personality. Now here is what I want you to do: Getting back to the previous lesson, tell me what some of your strenghts and weaknesses are, and how you could defend your weakness. Next, tell me about your personality. What is it like? (Last edited by Cyro Xero on 05-09-05 09:30 PM) |

My main strengths are accuracy, agility, and strength in general. However, my biggest is my incredible skepticism-induced magic resistance. Another strength would be my great resourcefulness.
However, my weaknesses are that I can't really use magic, and am just human. I cannot move at the speed of sound or slow down time. As for my personality, I am a very pragmatic and cynical person. I have seen a lot of stuff before, and not much surprises me. However, I can still be funny and friendly. Basically, if I like you and you don't annoy me, I'll be your friend. |

Hm, very good. Showing your personality in battle can help make it more enjoyable. 'Know thy self, and you shall conquer all.' Remember this. Now, I shall give you your final lesson. You've learned about many things since you arrived, so now I shall put some of your knowledge to the test. In battle, you may be faced with an opponent with your same strength or power. Overcoming such an adversary may be difficult and require a lot of strategy. However, if you continue fighting the same way there may be a good chance that you can outlast him, lengthening your attacks, so to speak. Doing this is a great way to intimidate many less experienced fighters, possibly defeating them without lifting a finger. This is what I want you to do, Pat Meth. Show me that you can perfrom a lengthy action and you will have completed this lesson. Your goal for this is to make no less than 8 'sentences' during an action or attack."
The Supreme Trainer motions and calls over another student to stand before you. "This young person will be your test opponent. He is going to attack you. Do what you must during this lesson, but do not kill him. You must also leave him conscious. You are to use what you have learned. You can use spell charging, the Smash Hit, strategy, basic fighting or all of them combined. You choose what to do. Do you understand? Good. Now then, begin the fight. And remember, at least 8 'sentences'" The student looks at you and prepares his attack with a fighting stance. A brown hair young man with a fairly muscular build. He seems to be training in the martail arts judging from the lack of weapons in his hand. Suddenly he launches himself forward with a special fast movement technique and draws his fist back for a strong punch. (Last edited by Cyro Xero on 05-13-05 07:21 PM) |

Seeing the trainee leaping toward him, Pat fell down to the ground. As the trainee went over his head, he slashed upward with his knife and dove forward. Rolling quickly to a stop, he spun around to face his opponent. He quickly exchanged the knife for his revolver, which he aimed carefully at the man. Pat then fired off two shots and holstered his revolver, removing his knife again and holding it ready to defend himself. Since the other trainee wasn't attacking, Pat charged towards him, and when he got in range he slahed diagonally in the direction of his chest. He then kicked at the man and leapt backwards again. He prepared to defend himself.

The young warrior took the first attacks, as there was not much he could have done to avoid them. He manages to defend against the second slash and kick. Just as he was about the counter attack the Supreme Trainer holds his hand out, indicating to stop the battle. The fighter makes a fist and holds up his index and middle while shutting his eyes. An aura appears where his wounds are and heals them. He then moves off to the side and waits.
"Good job, Pat Meth. You've done just as I asked. Hopfully you will see that creating lengthy actions will make fights a bit more enjoyable, for both your self and your opponent. The young man here specializes in chi techniques. He had planned to hit you with that energy burst from his palm, but unfortunately for him he was unable to use it. Now then, this concludes the lesson, and essentially, your training. You have successfully learned all knowledge I've given to you. However, remembering and putting it to use will be up to you. There are also other things to learn during your journey, but I have left those for you to find yourself. Congratulations." Supreme Trainer calls forth several people to gather around and tells you to step forward. He pulls out his shining sword from its golden sheath and raises it up. The sunlight made it shimmer and it almost seemed to let off a glow of its own. He brings it down and gently rests it on top of your head as he begins to announce something. "I hereby decree that this young man, Pat Meth, has been given my blessing as a warrior, as well as the spirits that dwell within thy sword! Let all know that he has the knowledge from my teachings and will be protected and guided by them during his time as a warrior. His journey may be long and difficult, but he will overcome any obstacles." The Supreme Trainer sheaths his sword and places his hands upon your shoulders. Everyone applauds as they stare at a new champion standing before them. "A joyous moment this is, Pat Meth. Indeed it is. As a reward, I will give you something very special." The Supreme Trainer reaches inside his shirt behind his chest plating and pulls out an unsual looking tan rock with an engraving on it. He holds it out to you so you can get a good look. "This rock is not what it seems. Although it looks ordinary enough, it something very rare and special. It is called a "God Mod" stone. Do you know what one is, Pat Meth? Yes No So, do you understand? Excellent. This is what has been protecting me from your attacks. I pray you use it only when you have to.
