On another happy note, I would like to share a story with all of you.
A couple boys in my troop contacted me this past week, wanting to do something to help the victims of the hurricane. So i told them try and collect money from relatives, friends and family, and neighbors, and whatever you collect, i will match 100% of it.

Three days go by, and i get a call back from the same three boys. They had collected over $250 just the together in one loop around the neighborhood. They did this by doing a bottle drive. I was exteremly shocked and glad to see that these kids took the initiative out of their summer and after school time to go out and do something productive that will help so many.

So as a loyal eagle scout, i fufilled my promise and matched their total. Today, there was a donation truck leaving for new orleans i belive while they were in school, so i talked to the three kids' parents permission to take the three down to the truck before they left. Describing the situation, both parents were shocked and had no idea they collected that much.

So earlier today, I took the boys down to the drop off spot and had them present the head person with a check for $510.

I am extremely pleased with these boys. At a young age (15, 14, and 12), it is rare to find kids these days with heart and determination like they had this past few days. I know for a fact, if it wasnt for the fact that these boys were in Boy Scouting, that they would of never done what they had done. I am extremely proud of them and can not wait to see what they will accomplish on their road to eagle.

I thought i would like to share that story with you guys. A little cheer, expecially with all that has gone on, never hurts once and a while.

**smiles** wow....that really is great. Considering I've only got about 2 years on the one that's 15, I dun wanna talk as though they're little kids, but still...I do see what you mean. I have a 15 year old sister, almost 16, and she'd never think to do something like that. That's just amazing...

On your part too. They did all that stuff that you mentioned in your post, but you also were a big part in that happening. I think that's really cool that the four of you did that.

Have you ever spent days and days and days making up flavors of ice cream that no ones ever eaten before? Like chicken and telephone ice cream?...Green mouse ice cream was the worst.

That is truly amazing and wondeful. It's good to see that children that age are capable of such wonderful kids. I don't even know those kids and I'm proud of them.

My gods, there might be hope for the human race yet! That is wonderful that kids that age would work so hard to help people in need.

Wow, that is a nice thing. I'm pretty sure kids that age around where my home is would have a similar heart, but nonetheless you don't hear about it often at all. Kudos to them. Tell them that a guy named Cyro from a message board you go to says "Thanks". Seriously. I think some of the people ordered to down south from my army unit are going to help deal with victims.
