Alright, although maybe not the most "appropriate" image to use, when I was doing this it just came to my mind.
So, as you can see the lovely Mai is in my new (somewhat) layout. Well, this was the original image I had to use: If you notice things, you may notice that this picture looks a little 'sketchy'. When I first put it into my layout without touching it, it just didn't look all that great, and looked almost as if someone literally drew on my layout. So, to somewhat and easily "touch up" an image like this, all you have to do is simply duplicate the layer you're wanting to touch up, then with the new duplicate set it to "Multiply". If you're working with a bad picture, you should easily see a difference. I did this twice with this Mai image, the 2nd duplicate I set to Opacity 25 and Fill 25. Overall, you should get a smoother and nicer looking product by doing this (hopefully). Compare: I don't know, maybe most of you guys already knew about this simple trick, or maybe not. Either way, hopefully this'll prove to be of some use to someone. |

Hmm, that's quite a difference. It looks nice though. I use photoshop before putting my images up on Acclaim Images, but I don't do anything besides setting the DPI and occasionally messing with the color/contrast issues.
I'm affraid to work with layers *hides* |

Hmm, I hadn't thought of that, but yes, I definitely see what you mean. I tend to make my own backgrounds via photoshop editing myself. Usually though, when I layer, I prefer to use more than one pic and do something a little more like the background I'm using now (which is also another piece I've put together myself). Also, when working with layers, you can also change the order of the layers by holding the left mouse button and dragging. This helps when you want to merge different layers but not others when you're working with more than three layers. It may be an obvious piece of information for some, but I've encountered quite a number of people who have forgot about this data or rather didn't know it. The full background is on my myspace, but pm me if you wish to see it. |
