Elara: But one glass of wine could be good for you in one way I admit. However, you should know that trusting the FDA is not a good idea. They are corrupt, and won't even register Celiac disease as real. Instead, when my family realized my dad had it, the goverment just tried to force a bunch of drugs onto him, and they succeeded until my mom found out the real problem.
But back to the point. Alchohol might be good in one way, but what the FDA doesn't tell you is how bad it is for you in another way. The liver recieves damage, you can get some types of cancer, ect. I know this, as I actually have had two relatives die because of things like this. Saijin: I'll have to agree with you on that, I rarely have caffeine because my mom severely disapproves, but caffiene free just isn't the same... (Last edited by Vulkar on 11-10-05 10:11 AM) |

Elara: it may have benefits.... but in my mind... I'd rather not have it at all and save myself the worry of starting to drink too much.... it's safer that way

But Vulkar, a glass of wine a day HAS been scientifically researched to be benrficial. Red wine to be exact. Alcohol, if consumed in quantities, is dangerous. One glass a day gives enough timefor your liver to process out the poisions as it will do with ANYTHING else you consume. It is not getting overloaded and stays perfectly healthy until your take to alcoholism.
This isn't really an anti-mormon subject, though. So here's another question. About children and the afterlife (because I don't know much about the afterlife in any religion). You're 18 and married. Both you and your husband/wife die in a car crash. Do you stay with the family you were raised up in in heaven, or with your husband/wife? Or do you all stay connected somehow? |

Oddly enough, I haven't actually looked into this before.
However, I am going to hazard a guess that everyone stays connected. But at the same time, you should know that only if you are in the celestial kingdom can you and the rest of your family be together. Again, that's what I'm guessing. I'll look into it later and edit this post if I'm wrong. |

Um, yeah Mormonism has always seemed like more of a cult to me, following an average man's theory and being secretive about many rituals and practices. And most of its members being strangely perfect in basic morality. What do you know about your beliefs that make it into a religion? And can you go into detail on the gold plates found by Joseph Smith?

A cult? Sorry, that's about the most humorous thing I have ever heard about our religion. All of our beliefs are publically available on the internet, or to anyone who asks. There is only one thing that most people aren't allowed to know about, and that's called the endowments. Only Geeogree would know about that, unless there are some other adults here.
Anyway, how Joseph Smith found the plates. Supposedly, when Joseph Smith was 14, he was confused about which church was right. He looked at a lot of them, and none seemed correct. So, he went into the woods and prayed about which religion to join. Both God, and Jesus Christ came to answer, and Joseph Smith was told that he should join none of them, and he would create his own religion. Several years later, Joseph Smith was taken to where the golden plates are currently located. He also was given a tool to translate them. He did so. Other than that, you would have to read the scriptures, because if I go into detail at all, it would take a long time to write it all out. |

Heh, I'm in the same place as that dude. Maybe I should crteate my own religion.
:giggle: Hmm... I see Mormons dressed up in Tuxedos riding bikes all the time. Someone told me it's because you guys don't believe in cars or something. I think that's a little far-fetched... but what IS with the bike and tux thing? |

Okay, now THAT is most definatley the most humorous thing I have heard.
What you see are missionaries. We send them out to teach of our religion. Everyone from the age of 19-21 is strongly encouraged to go. Being on a mission, they have strict dress codes, which is why they wear a suit. Also, as cars are rarely cheap, then most missionaries ride a bike, or in several places then they switch off with some other missionaries for one car. |
