This is for the DS. Get it Dawn of Sorrow? Oh, Konami, how you make me happy... inside.

So I got this game from some kid today. For free, cause he's a freshman and well... he's 'tarded. So I went home and played it, and I got past the first two bosses, and this game is pretty nice. It doesn't have the Aria of Sorrow feel that the other had, and has more of an "anime" look to it, but is still good in the gameplay department, and the music is just as great. It doesn't really take advantage of the DS's capabilities though. It looks like a GBA game played on two screens with really good sound. Other than that, so far, this game is pretty good. If you didn't play Aria of Sorrow (since this is the sequel to it, remember) than:

A) You're missing out on one of the best GBA games. Ever.
B) You won't really need to in order to understand DoS's story. It's fairly simple.

So, you're a guy named Soma Cruz, an exchange student from Japan. Suddenly (now this is in AoS) there is a Solar Eclipse, and he finds himself in Dracula's castle. And then, he does some stuff, and is eventually the host for Dracula's soul. Eh, my explaination doesn't do it justice, but if you wanna see it in its full glory, get Dawn Of Sorrow. Cause it el rocks.

Played it. Beat it. Loved it.

Not as good as Symphony of the Night in my opinion, but overall it's one of my favorite CV's. The only bad thing is that it's quite short, and rather simple compared to SoTN and other CV's. You won't find yourself actually searching for hidden rooms or anything.

The music is oustanding for that game. The replay value is very high, as you can go through the game with a New Game + feature, as other characters, and there's Boss Rush mode, Sound Test Mode, and plenty of other things to unlock.

Definintely one of the better DS games currently out there.

I'd probably give it a 4.5 out of 5.

Edit: And yeah, the art style kind of threw me off. It's pretty akward looking at the box art for this game, then looking at some other CV game. DoS is definitely more anime-ish than dark (like JL said).

I help moderate a Castlevania forum, yet I've never touched DoS yet, of course it doesn't help I can't afford/ don't have a DS.

Oh man. I just beat it.

Great game. Worst possible ending ever.

I know there are multiple endings, but I got a baaaad ending. It just... stops. Nothing else its like, seriously

Arikado: "Yo, wuddup Soma. Oh, he's gone. Well, lets go."
Soma: "lol, k"

I gotta get the better ending. I beat it in two days... wait, more like 5 hours, but whatever. Its still awesome.

Yeah, I got like 3 endings before I got the actual good one.

Did you get the one after defeating Dario? (or whatever his name was).

I remember the first ending was really bad.

Yeah, the Dario one was the first I got. That was terrible, worst ending to a game ever. But then, I did the other ending (but without that certain item equipped) and that ending was a little better. But the last ending, the best, aw man, that was so awesome. Totally made up for that crappy ending. The last boss is so awesome, but was a little easy.

Yeah, but then again the last boss in Symphony of the Night was even easier.

Holy Cross x3 = Win.

DAMN. JULIUS MODE IS BITCHIN'.

Not for Julius. Julius in AoS was cooler. But that third guy...

That third guy!

Spoiler:
Alucard. Fucking shit man. FUCK-ING-SHIT. So awesome. How he moves his cape everytime he starts to walk. And he's got the super jump. Maaaaaan, Alucard is teh roxerous. I guess Yoko is pretty cool too, her magic is rippin' up strong and she can heal everytime she hits. All the characters have surprisingly good pros and cons.

I don't understand the leveling up. I've got my Julius to level 32, but I've only fought three bosses so far. I don't get that. Who cares though! It still rocks.

Spoiler:
Have you not played Symphony of the Night? You play as Alucard through the entire game. I also had no idea Alucard was disguised as that one guy in DoS. And apparently you get to fight Soma as the final boss in Julius Mode, I haven't beaten it yet though.

Awww I had to give my copy back to that kid before I could beat Julius Mode...

But I actually haven't played Symphony of the Night for too long. I've only played a real short bit of it. Thats the one I want to get next, I'm sure I can buy it with the christmas money I get.

Spoiler:
Yep, Soma is the last boss. I haven't seen him, but I've read about it in multiple places. So I cheated, blah. I know he uses the Abaddon Soul, the one with the locusts. That has to be a pain in the ass, its one of the ones I used alot after I got it.
