Solid Car! Im not the biggest fan of Fords 5.0 MPEFI V8, but they do their job right.

Most 5.0 mustang parts will work with yours, you can make a nice sleeper

Just make sure to replace your o2 sensors to have it not run to rich or lean, replace the knock sensor. and take care of it, and youll be having it for well over 150k miles

Some more background info one it, it says 5.0 L but its really 4.9 XD ford rounded it up, its 302 cubic inches.

Good luck with it

Also watch your oil consumption, if it burns it you will want to be on top of it, making sure theres enough in it.

just change it reguraly and check the level every couple of days.

Yea, we toolk it for a test drive yesterday and the only problem with it that we could find is that the front schocks need to be replaced. There is not a dent or scratch on the body exept for one on the back but it's so small you would never notice it..

it has

-electric seats, you can go forward, back, up, and down.
-stereo equilizer, definitly an 80's car.
-am/fm tape deck, it will be changed out with a cd plaeyer when I get it
-leather seats, and in pretty good condition to.. barely any cracks or marks..
-cruise control

like I said on my last post it has about 100k miles and everything is original on the car besides from the muffler and a few other things they had to do with it to get it through the check up's to make it street legal..

so yea.. im happy

and when we checked it out yesterday we checked the oil and asked about it...

I nearly got my hands on a '63 Thunderbird several months back. Ford makes
pretty good vehicles. With the job I just started though I need to buy a truck as
soon as I have enough money to get it. I'm hoping to get my hands on a used
F-150. I like those trucks.

Dead.

an abbreviation of Ford.

If you get an F-150, just get the Dodge version of it, a Dakota. My grandma has a V-6 dodge Dakota and she tows her lil fifth wheel with it. LOL.

Anyway, it doesn't sound bad for a first car. Good luck with keeping it in shape. ^-^

Im surprised theres no 8-Track XP

But it looks like a reasonable car to start out, I cant complain because I dont have a car myself...But it looks to me that its gonna treat you good.

Seen how its an old model, make sure you get oil changes often. Rotate your tires the next chance you get...seen how you have to get new shocks, its going to mess up your front-end alignments if they dont replace them right...

That's a pretty sweet deal Drizzt, congrats! My car was only $400, but we needed to do a lot of repairs to her just so she'd pass the smog tests. When are you going to officially be getting it?

used cars blah...

i remembered when i got my first used car. it was like $2,000 to buy, another $1,000 to fix. then it broke down cause i drive it like 6 hours non-stop once ($400 to tow, but magically the bill disappeared), another $2,000 to fix. then finally sold it for $500 credit to buy my brand new car.

anyways, hopefully you can afford gas for your V6. my old car had a V6, freaking 15 miles to the gallon. it was like $20 of gas a week, and that was the old gas price a few years ago. now it would've cost like $27 a week -.-'

i'm happy with my V4 car. only like $17 a week... 30 mpg, and 38mpg highway.

V4? I dont recall any of those being in production ever but there is a few exceptions.

Unless you mean a Flat 4? Very common in VW and Subaru, but they call it a a Boxer enging, but its still a Flat 4.

And drizzit if you go through a tank in less then a week, change your fuel filter and run fuel injector cleaner. just put it in the gas tank and get a new airfilter, or use a aftermarker K&N it will help you so much. And also replace your plugs and wires, you may not have complete combustion and still run right, and all that un burnt gas can either go into your oil pan or right out your taill pipe

that will help you squeeze a few more MPG

I have a 5.0 litre (305 LG4 small block Chevy) V8 with a 4 barrel carb in my caprice, and I get a good 8-9 days to a tank. I drive 15 mins to work and back 3-4 times a week. Plus school and misc trips. I have a 19 gallon tank.

yes... i wasnt thinking -.-' i meant that...thx for the correction.
and you are right, that thing'll waste so much gas. i wonder if you really did get a good deal out of it, what with how much the gas'll kill you later on.

ive been told by multiple people that if I dont have lead foot and drive the speed limit and stuff that it wont be that bad on gas.

@Spyware: I plan on doing alot of things when I get it, thanks for the info, I'll add it to my list of things to get done on the car right away, I dont want to have any problems in the future.

@Sajin: I know a guy that can do all of that for a resonable price, so that shouldnt be to hard.

I should be getting the car sometime next month, I need to get my next paycheck at the end of the month to put 200 bucks down, and stuff like that..

Fix

Repair

Another good Ford joke. My dad had a Ford F-150 that I drove a couple times
before he got rid of it. I loved that truck. It handled great, he never had ANY
problems with it at all. It had a good sized cab, fold out rear doors instead of full
sized.

It was a good truck overall and I should be able to get a used one pretty easily.

V6's are pretty good on gas as far as I've noticed. V8's are the bad ones. Older
cars such as mustangs and such had V8's. I'd love to get my hands on a 67'
Ford Mustang. Not the GT or the Shelby. Just a regular mustang. Dream car
right there.

I have my dreamcar. a '73 Camaro. It's a racing car. ^-^

The older Fords seem to last forever. I think everything built before '96 or '95.

Hey hey hey....nuff with the Ford jokes. :p The cars suck but I'm in love with the trucks. That's prolly cuz my pop-pop had his truck my entire life up until I was about 15. What? I love my pop-pop, so its a good reason to wanna get the same truck he had. Same kind at least. :p

Anywho...**tackles Drizz** I'm also in love with Thunderbirds....lucky bastard.

No but I will soon, I get paid on friday and so I will be able to put 200 bucks down on it, so possibly april sometime I will have pictures..

Edit: think it would be worth it to replace the old AM/FM cassette player with this

that stereo is in my mom's car, but she says that I can steal it from her and put it in if I wanted to..

it's funny how much I got it for to.. I got it for $150 and now look, there selling it for a lot more
