Thought I'd make a thread, and post some cool songs from the varius bands I listen to. Why? I don't know. I just like sharing music that I think is amazing, and maybe it'll get other people into the stuff I listen to.

Hammerfall: Legacy of the Kings
Heeding the Call
Warriors of Faith
- Hammerfall follows a pretty basic Power Metal formula, but they do a great job at it. The only thing is, is that I've heard they went "More Europe than ManOWar" with Renegade, and their other latest albums. Legacy of the Kings and Glory to the Brave are both great albums though.

Blind Guardian: Imaginations from the Other Side
Imaginations from the Other Side
- It took me more than a year to finally say I like Blind Guardian. Don't ask how or why, it's just one of those things were I instantly changed my mind. Now I think they're great, but I kind of have to be in the mood for them. They're darker, and pretty heavier. But like this song, they've got some very mesmerizing songs.

Dream Evil: Book of the Heavy Metal
Into the Moonlight
Let's Make Rock
- At first I hated this band too. The first track on this album was so bad, I turned it off and didn't listen to the rest of this album about a week later. Boy, was I surprised at how different and how much better their other songs were. A lot of their stuff reminds me of ManOWar, darker, and they give off this "glorious" kind of feel at times.

Helloween: Master of the Rings
Sole Survivor
Where the Rain Grows
- Only bad thing about Helloween, is that they've changed their "sound" nearly 50 times, and it's not always for the best. Master of the Rings and The Time of the Oath are two of my favorites, in terms of their newer stuff.

Luca Turilli: King of the Nordic Twilight
Black Dragon
Legend of Steel
- I've been a Rhapsody fan for years, and didn't expect no less from Luca's solo projects. Heck, I like this album more than a handful of Rhapsody's albums. Definitely epic and glorious metal here.

I'll probably post more later. I might make a thread with all of the albums I've gotten so far, so you guys can make requests.

Hope you enjoy this so far.

*Takes that advice and stickies... since metal seems like a popular genre of music on this board, and this thread could be used as a place to share similar music... maybe this'll give birth to other "(Username)(Genre)Threads" if this proves successful.*

In Flames...When you get you hands on 13 Bucks...BUY THEM!!!

Goatwhore...A pretty deep black Metal Band

Fear Factory...The Vocalists arent that good...but the music is intriguing...

Children of Bodom...All I can say is...Wow

God Forbid...Everyone needs to listen to them

As I lay Dying...Christian metal...but man they are great

Demon Hunter...Christian metal, Vocalist isnt great...and O.K lyrics...

Cradle of Filth...One of my favorite Black metal bands

And if anyone thinks Slipknot is Metal anymore, you asking me to slap you...They are Rock to me...and uhh...I dont like them too much...

The list goes on...

*laughs* It was a matter of time before someone mentioned them ...

I uploaded a lot of songs by them in the past, so just decided to put up some "new" stuff. But yeah, I do plan on putting up some Gamma Ray for download. Remember, I do own:

- Heading for Tommorow
- Sigh No More
- Insanity and Genius
- Land of the Free
- Alive '95
- Somewhere out in Space
- Power Plant
- Blast From the Past
- No World Order
- Skelatons in the Closet
- Majestic

So ... if there's any in particular that you guys want to hear, let me know. Of course, unlike 90% of most bands out there, Gamma Ray has never "lost their sound", because they're gods.

But yeah, I'll probably upload Alive '95's "Ride the Sky" (From Helloween). It's just awesome.

By the way for you Children of Bodom fans, I'll put up some Ensiferum soon. They're basically the same style, but slightly more European inspired (cheesier, I guess you could say. Most sites do label them as Viking Metal, so yeah).

And if you guys enjoy Rhapsody, Luca Turilli, Blind Guardian, and stuff like that you'd probably also enjoy Elvenking. I could upload some of their stuff too.

And if some of you have yet to hear Judas Priest's Painkiller ... you must!

@DarkSlaya: Sure, but do you mean putting them up on Xeogaming?

Nope, because while I can't know the bandwidth the site uses, I know the space

Have any of you guys heard of Shadow Gallery?

Awesome Progressive Metal band. I'll upload a few songs or stuff. I have their Room V album which is the second part of the concept album "Tyranny". Need to get my hands on that album too.

Tyranny songs/albums/etc seems to be a reccuring theme amongst Power Metal Bands.

Well, maybe only a few (From that I've seen).

The one you mentioned, Dethrone Tyranny by Gamma Ray (Awesome-licious), and Tyranny of Steel by Iron Savior (also quite yummy).

I've also heard Tyranny amongst the lyrics of another band, who's name has escaped my memory at the moment.

Yeah, Gamma Ray's No World Order album was definitely a little darker than others. Still amazing though. I loved Kai's screaming singing in Heart of the Unicorn.

The only dark metal band I've been getting into lately is ManOWar. All of their songs and lyrics seem to revolve around wars, and stuff like that. Musically I think they're amazing though, and I think if it weren't for them, we wouldn't have half the metal bands we have today.

I still absolutely hate Iced Earth though. I don't know why people like that band. I've heard countless songs over at friends, and finally decided to buy The Dark Saga (according to amazon reviews it was one of the few albums by them that sounded a little interesting), and it's quite possibly my least favorite album that I own. Their music just doesn't seem to have any style to it, its too slow, not progressive or anything, and I just don't like them at all.

It's time to celebrate Metal with our Elves, Dwarves, Knights, and Dragons my brethren!

...

Tobias Sammets (Edguy) Avantasia: Part II
The Looking Glass
The Final Sacrifice
- Avantasia is decent in my opinion. But I think Tobias is a little crazy to call this side project "The Metal Opera", really it just sounds like regular Power Metal to me. In terms of symphonic elements in metal, I don't think this stuff compares to bands like Symphony X, Blind Guardian, Rhapsody, and Elvenking and Ensiferum which you will see below. I do however like Avantasia more than Edguy.

Folk / Viking Metal ahead. Beware of cheese, if you don't like it! I do.

Ensiferum: Ensiferum
Hero In A Dream
Token of Time
- My friend showed me this band, and I instantly loved them. Their vocals are along the lines of minor growling, very much like Children of Bodom. So unlike true death / black metal (which I don't like), you can actually understand them and hear what they're saying.

Elvenking: Heathenreel
Pagen Purity
The Dweller of Rymes
- I looked around for more "Viking" metal after hearing Ensiferum, and this band really stuck out. The vocals are entirely different (no growling) and are just like typical Power Metal vocals. And the music is just great, really gives off a "happy nice" feeling.

And it is time.

Some Live fun. (From Alive '95)
Land of the Free
Ride the Sky (Helloween)
- Kai, Dirk, Henjo, and Daniel are Gods. The end.

I'll upload the album version of Land of the Free, since it's incredibly good. Then I'll probably upload Rebellion in Dreamland. In my opinion, Kai Hansen sings to his greatest ability in that song, there's no song that even compares to how good he sings in that one.

Ride the Sky just owns.
The solo's will blow you away.

Edit: I love Gamma Ray.

Triple Post Combo! Yes.
1987 Points

Looks like I got some listening up ahead. For live stuff, I was never a fan of watching, or listening to live on computer or TV. If I was actually there, of course it'd be the kickest of asses, but on the computer or on other things...meh.

Yeah, well I'm not too big on Live stuff myself, just because of the quality. It's still not bad though, but both Alive '95 and Skelatons in the Closet don't really come close to how amazing Dream Theater's Live at Bodukon CD was.

Still, I think it's cool hearing some of GR's songs live, and it's great to hear them cover some of Kai's old songs from Helloween.

Um... I think Venomouslobster would have a problem with that, so I'll have to say no. As much as I hate referring to the site, if you look at my MySpace profile there is a list of my 100+ favorite bands... and those are just favorites, I listen to more.

Elvenking is a cool band, I used to listen to them on RTDS.

Oh yeah... for the metal lovers, I must again plug RTDS (Radio That Doesn't Suck). It's an awesome online radio station that plays almost nothing but metal and rock. I discovered In Flames there along with many others.

International actually... I think one of the DJs awhile back actually lived in Scotland or something like that. One lives in Canada, I know that for sure. But yeah, it's an online radio station that my friend showed me years ago... all you need is winamp to listen and you're good to go. I used to love going in the IRC chat as well, since it was easy to request songs then and all that... but sadly IRC hates my laptop, so yeah.

Heh heh, well, I will let him know. I haven't had a chance to talk to him today to tell him anything about it... I'm going to enjoy the look on his face. It's cute when he's possessive, like watching a little kid with a cookie. Ha, you got slapped.
