Type-casted is a acting/theater term for being placed in similar rolls, because the physical/character are of a similar type. John Wayne was type-casted. He played the same roll nearly every time. The big tough guy/leading man. Because every time you looked at him you saw a big, tough guy. That's how you think of him.

There have been, and are many who have been type-casted. John Wane, John Goodman, Arnold Swarzinager, "The Rock", Jim Carrey, and now me.

I'm a theater student. Understandably, I audition for acting parts. Both on and off my college campus. So far all the rolls I get I'm either cast as the "Creepy" guy. Or someone who is suppose to be ugly. Yes ugly.

So I have been type casted as an ugly/creepy guy...

It seems that professionally speaking I am ugly and creepy. Professional casters has determined that.

...kind of stings...

And now I'm curious. What have others been labeled as? And by Who?

Just remember. Professionals have labeled me as creepy and ugly. So don't feel too bad.

lol I've been type casted in a play. It was a school play. Infact it sucked. But continuing I wanted to put down what was going on in the scene because I have no clue about what I was type casted as. My character and her friend are decorating for a spring fling. We're wearing the same dress our hair is the same and our date is the same guy. Anyway as it goes along I'm the smarter out of the two of us and the other chick is the air head. I tend to be like that chick sometimes. but I could've played the other role, the air head, just as easily.

Type-casted?

In real life, I guess you could say everyone thinks of me as the charismatic, intelligent person. However, I cannot start a relationship to start my life.

But, whenever I act, I'm always acting about, sly and all.

AH My triumphant return, I have been away for far to long. But anyway i think i got you beat. I am being type-casted as a big, dumb moron. If you have seen Blazing Saddles, then you know of Mongo. I am type casted as any and all Mongo type characters. Stupid, big, and ugly.

I don't really know if I've been type casted at all... I've only been cast once... technically twice. One was emotional and the other one was basically a bitch. Interesting.

Ah... I see.

I don't know... I seem to get "nerd", "goth" and "bitch" a lot. The last one comes from people thinking that I'm giving them a dirty look periodically.

Dumbest one I ever got was "suicidal"... because I let my hair fall in front of my face when I was leaning over my desk doing work.

In grade school I was the "fat crybaby"

Honestly Oni, I see you more as typecasted as a Viking or Highland Scotsman. That is just my opinion though.

From the little I've see/know of you, I agree. Don't worry about being casted as the creepy/ugly guy. I think I can understand the whole type-casting system from a director's point of view. I know I would be thinking in terms of what I can do with stage make-up. Stage make-up is actually a pretty kickass thing and can make you appear to be something that you aren't.

As far as plays are concerned...we never really did TOO much type-casting...'least the plays I was in, it didn't really matter for the female leads really...in life...I've actually been type-casted as the freaky Ring/Grudge bitch. I've got the long, straight dark hair....and I'm double jointed in my arms, so I can pull off the crawling down the stairs scene quite nicely. (I'm actually proud of that type-casting)

Different people bring out my different personality traits, so I can't really put my finger on other things I'm type-casted as. I don't really pay attention to how people precive me anyway. It only matters what I think of myself (**sigh** which isn't always a good thing).

I feel you there...

Dont give a shit about what people call you...If someone calls me something other than "Dale" or 'Sajin" I usually kick them in the gut...

but in a Drama, just realize that not everybody can be in the spotlight...Think of yourself as a puzzle piece that keeps the play together, and do you best!

Your no Creepy-ugly guy...You are you

Sajin, duh. I'm pretty sure GuardianOni knows he is himself, no matter what directors say. He wasn't asking for help, I'm pretty sure. The whole point in posting this was he was just asking you if you've ever been stereotyped in your life, basically.

Heh, in life I'm seen by lots of people as someone with lots of quirks and being extremely proficient at varying things. I don't mind it, it pretty much is true that my select few hobbies i enjoy (ddr, music, drawing) I develop really fast in. To most girls, I think they see me as some gross kid whose skills wouldn't matter anyway, probably from not appearing to notice them or having acne some of the time. Or they think I'm an elitist who has no time for their petty minds. I should look into acting, but no matter what character I play I'll be the most ignored person offstage. So "wierd kid" is the most of what I get out of people's thoughts of me. Not very hurtful, but annoying when I want to alert people to something and they act like I don't exist.
