I actually don't have a song on my computer, or own any of their albums.

They weren't that great anyways.
Just an interesting name to have.

But yeah DarkSlaya, get Malmsteen's Odyssey album if you're wanting a little more heavier stuff from him. A few songs on that album sound like pure Power Metal, literally.

I don't know if its my favorite one though, I like all of his albums pretty much equally. All of the singers are also pretty good.

Got them too, theyre pretty good...

I got some Bootlegged Goatwhore DVD's in which Cannibal Corpse and Fish opened up for them...Kinda has some satanic mantra to it, but good nonetheless...It doesent have the repetitive crazy drums and high-pitch screaming, but it does have that creepy demon voices on it....I love it

Fish was a band I heard 2 years ago in smith station...Basicially Thrash metal mixed with a taste of GWAR...

And I also got 2 Devil Driver albulms today...A video of them can be found in my Bio...Kinda reminds me of Lamb of God without the scratchy vocalist...I think that Devil Driver is my new favorite band of all time

Finally got my first Stratovarius album (Visions), and realized that their well known keyboardist is Jens Johanson, who was the keyboardist with Malmsteen's first 4 albums. Now there's another awesome guy who's stuck with great metal.

They're pretty awesome, I just don't see how some people can say they're the best Power Metal band out there. All the songs were really good, there just weren't any few songs that blew others away.

I plan to get a Primal Fear album next. I've seen so many people say they're basically like Judas Priest after Painkiller, but with Ralf Scheepers some say they're even better. He does have an incredible voice (I just prefer Kai's in GR because he just goes perfectly with their music and sound, but that doesn't mean I don't like Ralf).

Alright, I've gotten like 50 albums this last week (not literally).

Hammerfall Renegade - Horrible, horrible, horrible. Alright, not the worst album I've ever heard, but it's too much of a drastic change in style from their first two albums. The gap is so big, I just didn't really like it. And I can agree with what some have said, they seemed to go "Europe" on this one (The Final Countdown? yeah, about Europe's only good song).

Stratovarius Destiny - Incredible! I like it more than Visions, because it seems to have a more upbeat feel to the music. And I even loved the slow song "4,000 Rainy Nights". Really great album and makes me want to get more of them.

Judas Priest Defenders of the Faith - Alright, with this album and Painkiller along, I declare them one of my top favorite bands of all time next to Gamma Ray and only a select few others. This album came out after Screaming for Vengeance, but this album started their change to a more epic and speed sound. Rob's voice is so amazing and his range is incredible. This album is so good it comes so close to Painkiller its not even funny.

Prime Fear - Awesome. I can see how people compare them to Judas Priest. The album gets a little boring after the middle, but its still a very solid album and Ralf Scheepers singing is incredible.

ManOWar Kings of Metal - More like Kings of Diahhrea. Really I can't stand this album. Reason? There seems to be only like, 3 real songs. Some tracks are horrible instrumental / solo's, one track is 4 minutes of an old guy saying some made up prayer. I think Eric Adams is one of the best vocalists out there, but this album is just too weird for me. Disappointing after loving Triumph of Steel so much, but it is older and they had different members in the band then ... so yeah.

Marty Friedman (Megadeth) / Jason Becker's Speed Metal Symphony [Cacophony] - OH MY SWEET SUPER NINTENDOS. I thought it would be hard to beat out Malmsteen, even after I got obsessed with him and everything, but I've now found myself just as obsessed with Jason Becker. His solo's are even better, they're so smooh its like his guitar is dancing in the ocean. They sound like stuff right from a Megaman game! The bad thing about this album, is the vocals. The guy sounds like Andi Deris (Helloween) but with no voice or range at all, its so bad its painful at times. The good thing is the main focus is on guitars, and the songs tend to have only a small amount of singing, and there's a handful of instrumental songs only. Seriously some of the greatest solos I've ever heard in my life. I'm going to get their second album "Go Off!" very soon.

Jason Becker's Perpetual Burn - Just as noticable as Cacophony, only this is entirely instrumental. I haven't listened to it completely (still obsessed with some of the other CD's I recently got) but I can say, from what I heard so far its absolutely incredible. Again, Jason Becker has easily become one of my favorite guitarists ever, possibly ahead of Malmsteen and others even.

Symphony X The Oddyssey - Just thought I'd finally buy it.

Yeah. I plan to upload some holy Judas Priest and some songs from the Speed Metal Symphony.

Prepare to be blown out of your country.
(when I do this)

Edit: Props to whoever actually reads all this.

I like Hammerfall, but I kinda liked the Renegade albulm...The "Europe" taste kinda added a soilwork Flavor to me...

Speaking of Soilwork, im getting back into them once again...I threw away their albulms after a major band was playing when I saw a local band played...I got tierd of hearing metal so I threw them away...

But I regret throwing them away really. I owned "Natural Born Chaos" and "Chainheart machine" for the longest time...

Heres their site, the only MP3 file you can listen to is their new song "Nerve"...you have to have realplayer to listen to it

Im planning on buying "Stabbing the Drama" this weekend when I get paid...I listened to them today when I was out drinking coffee...I think its their best albulm...

Dio came out with a new album not too long ago called "Holy Diver Live"

It is pretty good material and I like listening to it when I turn on rhapsody.

It's got some stuff from the Rainbow days too but of course its all live!

Those are two bands I've been interested in trying out lately, Dio and Rainbow.

I've heard Dio has had a lot of influence in epic metal, Power, and stuff like that. And I've just seen a lot of references to Rainbow because of the guitar playing I believe.

Saw Gamma Ray a few hours ago.

If I wasn't so damned pissed off I'd make a review (wait a few hours, and I'll make a thread)

I take back what I said about Manowar's Kings of Metal.

I think I was just comparing it to Triumph of Steel way too much, hoping for powerful double bass drumming, and faster music. But after I kept wanting to listen to Kings of Metal over and over again I realized I was hooked, and my opinion changed.

Really Manowar is like ... groovy metal. So many people throw out that lame "they're cheesy so they suck" arguement, it gets so old.

But yeah, most of the songs in Kings of Metal are upbeat, heroic, powerful, and have an uplifting feeling to them.

And again, Eric Adams in my opinion is easily up there with the ranks of Rob Halford (Judas Priest), Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden, etc), and other powerful metal vocalists. His voice shatters glass.

In my Jrock quest, I have stumbled upon something. Anyone hear of X Japan? From the few songs I have of them (about 10, getting more), they're a good Japanese Metal band. Not along the lines of Nu Metal, or Grunge or y'know, stuff like Korn and crap. They fit closer to Power Metal, I guess, as well as others? Anyway, yeah.

Songs like...

Blue Blood
Kurenai
Drain
SCARS
Orgasm

They have a few slow songs as well. I'll update the list as I listen to more, sorry I cannot upload any. You'll have to try it out yourself.

That's pretty much what happened when I bought Rising Force and The Best of.

I said "omfg" *xeo goes out and buys 3 other albums of his the next day*

TP: So far the only Japanese band I've heard is 403. But I think I have heard talk about X Japan. I'll definitely have to check them out, Japan seems pretty obsessed with the kind of metal I love.

DarkSlaya: So, if you haven't already get: Rising Force, Marching Out, Trilogy, and Odyssey. I'd say which one is my favorite ... but that's seriously impossible.

Odyssey is a little faster, and sounds almost like a Power Metal album. Rising Force is 80% instrumental only, but still amazing.

Those are the albums I own of Malmsteen so far (including the Best Of, featuring all of those albums), and I plan to get more of his stuff.

Sorry I've gotten behind with this thread, I plan to post some Manowar, and Judas Priest soon.

Anyways, a friend of mine and I were checking out insane guitarists like Malmsteen a few days ago, and discovered some interesting people and even a few bands.

Racer X - This band just seems insane. Godly speed / shred Metal, up there with Marty Friedman's / Jason Beckers Cacophony. I plan to get one of their albums to fully see what they're like, from the demo's and stuff though they seem insanely awesome.

Michael Angelo Batio - Guitarists. Him playing with a DOUBLE guitar. I don't think words can describe this.

Impellitteri - "The band's style is often compared to Racer X, while Chris' is compared to Yngwie Malmsteen." = Win.

So deep down inside the 80's / 90's I have found true furious metal, beyond the huge chunk of big hair.
