Logan vs. Sentinel... kinda

It's an OK clip, but I wish they showed other things.

I like the look Ratner's going with here. It's not the dominatrix X-Men or the Jim Lee look either.

Although Storm's wig... good god.

I'm scared to look. I don't want to spoil anything for myself.

Will watching it ruin anything?

No watching it does not spoil anything really

Its a meh kind of clip...the sound and clip could have been better and wolverine did not sound like the awesome wolverine I remember from the (Original) cartoons.

There's nothing really spoiler about it. It's just Logan being Logan.

I'm not sure if this is out in the field or a hologram in the Danger Room, but it's pretty much a few X-Men with some new recruits trying to run away from a sentinel and Logan going to fight it.

It doesn't ruin anything and BARELY reveals what the sentinels looks like.

EDIT since Hobo's comment wasn't there before I started ths post: I agree, Hobo. They didn't capture Wolverine as well as they could have.

I mean...

I do sort of like this Devil-may-care Logan that's been in the comics recently.

Someone'll hold a gun to his face and he stops to light his cigar, then slashes the gun to pieces in one swipe.

Well i'll give it a go then. I just don't want to see my precious Phoenix rip out Xavier's heart and eat it or something.

Edit: Watched it. Not really a good scene to show. Very superhero stereotypical, especially Logan lighting up on the battlefield. I'm sure (or I hope)when I see it in the theatre that I won't even think about it. (I'll probably be in awe or irritated over how they portray Phoenix anyway.)

Hahaha, I'll be in the same boat I assure you.

It's like how I was with X2.

I went to a midnight showing before the movie was technically supposed to be out. I was so in awe with the first scene that the moment knife hit the desk, I turned to my friend and said, "I could walk out now and be completely happy..."

As I look back on many of the scenes in it, I almost feel like I should have. Would have preserved some sanctity.

The only thing that worries me about this movie is the rumors about the plot: "There's a cure for the mutants". And although that can probably mean many different things, still ... it sounds kind of stupid.

I'm really excited about it though. After switching directors more than a few times, and hearing nothing but bad news at first, its really turned around and I truly think it'll be pretty good.

I honestly liked X2 a LOT, more than most. I enjoyed it even more than the Spiderman movies. And I'm quite the Spiderman fan.

(Batman Begins is still number 1 though).

One of the latest TV spots out:

Spoiler:
I thought Bobby and Rogue break up in this. There's been a lot of hinting of Bobby going to Kitty in past trailers.

I've heard several people claiming that Rogue and Logan get together in X3.

Anyone hear anything about that?

OK, I'm going to double post now.

I, like many other people out there, went to a midnight showing for it last night. It's in keeping with my tradition. I'd seen all 3 movies at the midnight showing. X2 was by far the best audience.

Anyway... my non-spoiler take:

There were parts that were intense, many parts that dragged, many parts that made me smile impishly (Stan's appearance among other things), excessively unnecessary deaths and disablings of major characters, stupid little plot twists that were more of a piss off, not enough of various characters or powers' screen time, Orroro lacks her accent, and Hugh Jackman has a visible cut on his hand in one scene, BUT...

Juggernaut says the line.

Now for my spoiler take:

Spoiler:
WHAT THE FUCK?!

I was very annoyed with how they concluded Rogue. Not to be biased or anything, but I felt they could have ended it better.

Example: Rogue goes to meet Leech herself, realizes she can touch him and immediately hugs him and all that jazz.

Then during the battle with Phoenix, she touches Jean, and in this act realizes her true value as a mutant and that her gift/curse is truly special. And in this solution, Jean doesn't have to die.

There were just so many things that made me annoyed and many things that made me happy, but what I didn't care for was the random addition of notably important mutants and either not giving them enough screen time or not even giving their powers screen time. It got to the point that while reading the credits, I was yelling things like, "Wait! Psylocke was in this? WHERE?!?!"

Even just as a movie this was somewhat disappointing. They just wrote Scott out. No explanation or anything other than, "Oh yeah, Cyclops is dead." Then again, no explanation as to how Jean was just there.

How do you know it isn't Madeline Pryor?

I did like how they did Beast and Angel, though I'm sad that Warren only had 3 lines.

I'll probably write more later. I know this is just a movie, but come on now, I know a lot of you get passionate about video games and thousands of other things, so give me this one.

I read the first line of your spoiler.

... yikes.

But yeah, from what I've read from reviews, people with either love this movie, or absolutely hate it.

Honestly I loved X2 to death, and will go as far to say that I even liked it more than Spiderman 1 and 2, but I've always been skeptical about X3. Even with the newer "good" news about it, and the promising trailers ... I just have this gut feeling that I could really like this movie, or be extremely disappointed.

I'll probably see it tonight I hope. Guess I'll just have to find out.

X2 was something special.

X3 starts out pretty well, but there are points that made me want to cry with the way this new director handled them.

Spoiler:
The final battle between Phoenix and Wolverine is pretty intense. Even with his flesh vaporizing as he's coming toward her, he's still coming toward her.

Another thing I really didn't care for was the gratuitous killing off of major characters, or otherwise just disabling their powers. GAAAAAAAAH!!!!

I now look fondly upon X2 as times we shall never see again.

I too went to the midnight showing last night. The movie reminds me faintly of Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. It's not that bad, but they do include a lot of mutants at unnecessary times without any explaination. Like you said Rogue: "Psylocke? Where?"

Spoiler:
Scott dying at the very beginning reminds me of Johnny Cage's death in MK:A. You're just like...."Wait a minute....HE's DEAD?" I mean I figured they were going to kill of Xavier somehow, but they could have at least given cyclops a death that served him justice. THEY DIDN'T EVEN SHOW IT! (What's funny is I HATE Cyclops and this still upset me.)

And Phoenix....my poor poor baby. They made her costume look amazing, i'll admit that. And Famke Jannssen made all her lines work, which was good. However they completely effed up her backstory. I was willing to forgive them because her history would really need more than one movie. But their explaination was very tongue in cheek. People that haven't read the comics/seen the show, probably were like 'WTF? Why is she called Phoenix?' All Xavier said was she has a split personality that named herself Phoenix. Okay that's cute and all. But she doesn't do ANYTHING that could give her that name, in the movie. If they would have said "She was kept alive in the lake...blah blah blah, resurrected like a phoenix." It would have appeased me somewhat. They sure as hell didn't give her any Phoenix'ish flames. Her telekinesis was badass, but it didn't do the name 'Phoenix' justice. I know that may sound silly, but it's true. I was hoping at the end where she's going nuts, that maybe...just maybe...the flames around her would shape into a bird....just for 1 second. But alas...she died.

There is an extra clip at the end of the credits. I missed it because I didn't think to stay after. Even though X2's Phoenix prelude made me cream my pants. (Which goes back to my rant in the spoiler. X2 had a Phoenix in the water!)

This is all you need to know about after the credits.
Spoiler:
This is all that happens in the "secret ending": the from the begining when Xavier explains about ethnics, and how if one were to transfer their mind to another body would it be moral. The nurse from the begining is hanging over the body when all of a sudden you hear Xavier's voice comeing from the body

The following spoiler should only be read if you saw the movie and missed the scene after the credits, read at your own risk:

Spoiler:
Scene: hospital room, man in a bed hooked up to machines. Woman walks in, looking at the chart next to the bed. A voice is heard, "Hello, Muira."

Muira turns, wided eyed to look at the man in the bed (seen from his perspective). She is silent for a moment, her mouth slightly open. "Charles?"

Screen goes black.

But yeah, I went to the midnight showing as well. The audiance was so annoying! Group of teenagers or something kept making loud stupid comments throughout most of the movie, though vengence was had. After the iceskating scene they were shouting out "oh, Jerry Springer!" to which someone else yelled out "Shut the fuck up!" The entire theater errupted in applause and cheers. The rest of the movie was watched in silence, glorious silence!

But yeah, my take on the movie: I had a feeling that I would be dissapointed, so I went in with low expectations. As a movie, it was okay... action scenes were awesome and I liked the scene with the Sentinel though I wish they had shown it better. As for my perspective as a fan of the comics (though nowhere near the level of Rogue and Shuyin since my brother doesn't share comics well) I was very angry over the changes they made, and in fact agree with Rogue on almost every point... okay, every point.

Spoiler:

Scott's death pissed me off, I mean he was a dick and all but he deserved better than that. Between his and Jean Grey's death they altered the storyline SO much... I heard so many fans of Cable bitching walking out of the theater that it wasn't even funny! Also, why does Arclight look so much like a guy? The breasts and Pyro calling her a lady are the only things that confirmed it for me. Also, Callisto... I wasn't even sure who she was until the credits and my friend confirmed it. The porcupine guy? I learned his name from reading the review in the paper and can't even remember it. WHAT HAPPENED TO NIGHTCRAWLER?! WHY NO GAMBIT OR JUBILEE?!

I hear that they are making a Wolverine spinoff movie, I look at it with mixed feelings. I mean, I like the character and Hugh Jackman does a decent job of acting the part... but I fear the writers and what they will do.

From what I read on IMDB, Gambit was going to be in it, but they decided to scrap the idea at the last second.

They could have mentioned Nightcrawler. Apparently they forgot he existed.

Yes, because they suck. I loved Nightcrawler and how they showed his badass powers in X2, and to just have him gone without a mention made me sad. I mean, it was nice to Kitty more, though she seemed uber emo to me at times.

I actually did like the fight between Iceman and Pyro though, it made me smile at the end of it.

But yeah... Storm's hair made me cringe. As for her accent, it's never been there in the movies that I have noticed... perhaps I am not observant (missed Stan's scene every time until pointed out later that "hey that was Stan"), but I'm pretty sure that Halle Berry has never even tried to do the accent.

I do like the one line she says though, "since when did we become a disease?"
Between that and Beast's conversation with the President about cure weapons I thought they did really well showing that side of the issue. Rogue... well... I guess they needed someone for the other side of the fence, but seriously what the fuck?

How I wanted to see X3 end:

Spoiler:
Rogue goes to meet Leech herself. Rogue has a natural curiosity and she's audacious enough to go looking for him.

She comes to Leech and discovers that her powers have no effect. She then hugs him and has that human interaction she's been wanting for. She hugs him, then leaves him at which time Kitty comes running in to rescue him.

During the battle of Phoenix and Wolverine, Wolverine provides enough of a distraction that Rogue comes up from behind and touches Phoenix and saves Jean from being killed, and in so doing Rogue realizes her value as a mutant and says, "Screw you," to the "cure."

OK, so it's Rogue-heavy, but seriously I was absolutely irritated with her ending and I saw her as the key to a much better ending with potential.

It's just that look at what being a mutant symbolizes.

Many other people have accepted the mutant gene to symbolize race.

I mean, Bryan Singer, the first director was openly gay. Being a mutant for him symbolized the acceptance of gays.

Now here's the thing... is there really a cure for race or gayness? This is why there are activists against the cure.

And not to be spoilerific here, but this is why I was annoyed who voluntarily took the cure.

Saw this on Saturday, I think the goods outweigh the bads by a lot. While both Gambit (my favorite) and Nightcrawler were absent, Juggernaut was a very entertaining suprise for me. Didn't see the spot at the very very end, but everyone was posting about it on 4chan so I knew of it about a half hour after the movie ended.

I think this saga is slightly character themed, like most stories with superpowers, where one character will have a profound effect in one movie and hardly exist in the next. I really liked Angel's role in this one, very short but also very meaningful.

Went to see this yesterday.

I'm a little ignorant when it comes to the comics, but I thought the killing off of three major characters was a little unneccesary. I don't know. All in all, an okay movie. But ya'll are right about some parts. Non-stop action at some parts, dragged out in others.

3 1/2 out of five, unless disagreed with.

NOTE: I am not a huge Xmen fan.

I loved it. I'm just saying, Wolverine was cool, and so was Beast. I didn't like what they did with Rogue but I mean, come on. She did what I would have done. And besides, the cure isn't permanent. Chill.

The battle scenes were so awesome to me. I hated Cyclops dying and kept thinking he just was walking around with his eyes closed.

Juggernaut was SO AWESOME.

Favorite Lines:

"Don't you know who I am? I'm the Juggernaut, BITCH!"

"Who's hiding, dickbreath?"

"When I get out of here, I will kill you myself. "

"Charles always wanted to build bridges."

"Maybe you should've stayed in school."
