| I remember watching this back in 2000, for the '99 Academy Awards, when I was obsessed with watching the Oscars every year.
This was the year South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut was nominated for an Oscar. That's right. For "Best Song." And since Mary Kay Bergman had killed herself, Robin Williams was selected to perform the song on stage. So after the piano solos from all the serious performers with their nominations for best song, out walks Robin Williams. I remember there were all these issues about what they were going to do with the song to clean up the language, but here's what they came up with. That year Phil Collins won for "You'll Be in My Heart" from the Tarzan soundtrack, hence why Trey and Matt instill him and his obsession with his Oscar in episodes of South Park. |

| My First thought before viewing this clip was.
"Mary Kay Bergman killed herself?" ...I never knew that.... And then I watched the clip, and I thought, that was the most remarkable thing Robin Williams has ever done! Him and Colin Mochre both are like comical Geniuses! (sp?) |

| Yeah, Mary took a gun to herself in November of '99. Ever since then all of the female voices on South Park have had to be done by someone else. So if you notice a difference in any of the women's voices since the movie, that's why.
I randomly found this which goes along with it. Someone tried to sync up the performance to Aladdin clips. It's not bad, but it fizzles out near the end. |
