My mom's gone through this weird phase within the last year or so, on making us eat "healthier" foods.

I mean the taste is the same ... but, there has to be drawbacks. As there is with almost anything out there. On top of that, its probably 3x more expensive than regular milk. That, and I'm 18, I've grown up on regular milk up until now ... why switch now? And look, people have been drinking "regular" milk for ages. The cases of getting bad things from them has always been low.

I don't know. I just don't like the idea of having "Organic" milk in my cereal now. Maybe I'm being exagerated or something, but I'm fine with regular milk. =

organic as in what? the whole 4 yards organic, as in the cow only eats organic foods, and the milk is freshed, and not even cooked to kill the germs or what?

and yeah, reason why most organic things are expensive is not because it's hard to make, but because there's not much demand for it. so they can't make profit if there's a set amount of people who will buy it. and also because it's expensive, regular people will less likly want to try it. environmentalist are forever trapped in this catch 22 world.

If she wants to go healthy she should try soy milk. I'm a vegetarian and I like the soy milk for the protein. If that's what you're calling organic then it doesn't even come from a cow.

She gets that for herself, the Organic Milk is for us.

The soy milk is just gross in my opinion.

Nah, just seems a little creamier compared to regular milk.

I don't know, its just the "idea" of it that kind of scares me.

If that's all that it is, I don't see what the problem is.

I mean creamy milk is awesome. I can't stand it when milk is just like milk-flavoured water. Gross. Anyway, you could just complain about it to her or something.

Since you're like 18 and all, you should have some authority.

Geez, Xeogred, I wonder why my mother does the same as well. Well, first, we all know that it is organic, meaning more healthy diet shit for us. Mmm. I wonder why.

Xeogred, my mother happened to get nasty type of disease in her body, roughly making her weak. She happened to need every organic food to survive (and the thought of that remind me of a Simpson Episode where organic can eat each other) or else she get really sick. How is regular and organic different? Organic tends to have more "vitamin” then regular normally has. Not only it could “cure” diseases, but it ensures that one devilish person want to live longer so that organic food in his/her body would ensure to work more faster and properly throughout the body system. Take regular, it doesn’t work faster in the body, it just have it normal taste and barely have any treatment for the body. Organic help the body to grow stronger.

And the reason why is your mother is taking organic is to live longer and be healthy. Regular barely does that to you.

I never had soy milk before so I wouldn’t know much about it. However, being a vegetarian is great since you wouldn’t have to worry about those fat and greasy meats. It is a shame I am not one of them.

You realize that everything we eat is organic no matter what, right? Everything is made from a chemical...everything. The only difference is whether it's processed food or wholly natural food. But, everything we eat is organic. Organic meaning that its carbon based. Nothing is chemical free for everything is composed of something from our periodic table of the elements. Even ourselves. We are organic.

Okay, rant aside, I drink soy milk just because I don't like the taste of any milk, period. And eating healthier isn't going to kill you any faster as long as you balance out with a little junk food every now and then. I eat healthier now than I did when I was a few years younger. And, I like it. I feel better, I look better (sometimes, oversleeping makes my eyes puffy), and there's a third point but I don't remember what it was (distracted by shredding documents).

I don't drink milk at all, and I'm 6'2" tall. I eat a lot of cheese, and that makes up for the milk. I switched to soy milk in adulthood, because, well, change is good. And soy milk comes in flavors. I can't drink it straight. It's like liquid tofu. But, the vanilla one, awesome in cereal. Unless, oh, well, never mind. You're just gonna be stubborn anyway.

Not for me. I hate regular milk too. I've never had organic milk before though.

Seen how my grandmother is a diabetic, we have no type of food or drinks that have Sodium, salt, fat, and or sugar....Milk on the orhter hand?

*Runs downstairs to see what type of crap he drinks*

*Milk reads*

"Nonfat Skim Milk" and "Nonfat Buttermilk*

I dont drink the stuff. My friends wonder all the time why I buy Chocolate milk at the store when we walk down there...Because the milk I usually drink is SICK!

The bread, the food, the drink...everything is for my grandmother. But i dont complain, every once in awhile my Aunt will go out and buy me some real food....

Oh god, I hate drinking my coffee with Splenda sugar and no calorie cream....

So yeah, my food source is Hell But like I said, I cant complain, if it makes me grandmother healthier. Im with it, and I dont say a word....

No wonder Im 129 pounds now O.O

Edit- Had to weigh myself, and I weigh 134 pounds....

.....Something isnt right

Chocolate milk is the bomb, a nuclear bomb.

Even though sometimes my mom suggests I could be lact tose and tolerant (spelling?), I still love it.

Its pretty common that I'll have a bowl of cereal, or a glass of chocolate milk or whatever and I might get a little stomach ache afterwords. About once a month, it sometimes can get so bad my stomach feels like its going to explode, its like all the gas gets trapped inside me or something. Eh, I don't know, I have stomach issues. And I'd rather not get into more detail about it.

It just wouldn't make sense because I have shakes of all kinds, very often. And they hardly effect me. I just think it possibly has something to do with the mornings, maybe I get up too quickly and eat too fast, or something. Anyone else like this? ...

But yeah, at school from Jr. High all the way through High School, I had chocolate milk daily.

I knew someone who was kinda like you, Xeo. But it seemed even worse.

As for me, I never had some weird milks. Only 2% milk.

My advice? But alot of Chocolate milk like I do!

Funny I come across this topic today because my mother and I were just talking about milk. My mother drinks soy milk due to certain health issues she has and she buys the 2% stuff for my dad and me, but we both admit that geting whole milk is nice since we like the creamy taste it has compared to what we drink everyday.

Anyways, I've had "organic" food, including milk and honestly I like it. Like you said Xeo, not much different in taste, but it's enough you can tell it's different. I wouldn't mind getting it all the time, except it is so expensive.

Honestly, I think your just freaking out over change. If you've been use to regular milk for 18 years, a sudden change can upset you, even if it seems silly. I was the same way when my mom switch me to 2%, but I eventually just started drinking it and realized it was really no different and even a little healthier since it isn't as high in fat. You'll ajust, but talk to your mom and see if she can't do one time the organic milk and another regular, just still you ajust. Or you can just go buy your own milk.

It's lactose intolerant.

This whole thread brings up the fact that Wal-Mart is going to be organic. If this were to really happen...

To be truthful, I can't stand Soy Milk. I had some regular, vanilla, and chocolate soy milk one time. All of it tasted so bad. I can only stand 1% and 2% milk, and barely Fat Free. Organic foods in general aren't too bad, but some of them are just terrible.

Organic foods especially milk usually is bought because:

You are a hypochondriac health nut who eats boiled onions with tabasco ( my dad)

it tastes better (yes kids...it generally does and i will explain why)

lets take tomatoes

Non organic: they dont actually ripen comercially produced tomatoes, they surround them with inert gas which triggers reddening in the tomato, and it is now the rage to (in addition to spraying) inject preservatives and anti bug chemicals into the tomato plant or even geneticly alter them in order to be bug resistant and rot resistant...now i am not saying that this is a necissarly bad thing, but it is true that it alters the flavor, and the more other stuff they do to it the less it tastes like a normal tomato

organic: is a tomato, completly utterly tomatolike and secure in its tomatohood, it may go bad sooner or the farmer may loose more of the crop to insects, and it will take a few weeks longer to ripen but it will be more flavorful and tomatoish in the end

There is always Sunmilk ( I think that is what it is called)... I believe it's 1% milk that has sunflower oil added into it that is healthy yet recreates the creamy taste of whole milk. I saw it advertised on TV awhile back.

Ah, the website.

Now if you could explain how organic milk tastes in comparison to "regular" milk that would be groovy since I've never tried organic. I get the idea behind the tomato comparison, since that is easier to understand... and in some degree explains the price hike as well since they are compensating for lost crops.
