Word has it there's going to be a TV show based on Sarah and John Conner's life between Terminator 2 and Terminator 3.

Personally I think Sarah's life between 1 and 2 would be much more interesting. She goes from meek, little diner waitress to hardcore, will sleep with anyone if it will benefit her would-be general son. Seriously, many, MANY more possibilities for adventure.

Any thoughts?

Sounds pretty cool, I've always been a Terminator fan. But I would like to see a show/movie focusing on just the war.

Seems interesting ... but, I never put a lot of faith in TV shows. I'm still even skeptical about the Star Wars one (set for 2007 or 08 I think?), but I could be proven completely wrong.

But yeah, 1-2 would probably be a lot more interesting. Might get to see how she ends up in the Asylum, and stuff like that.

However, I'm still wanting to see a movie or something completely based off the war in the future, the clips we see in the first 2 movies. I just think that would be pretty amazing. But really, I think most Sci-Fi movies lost that interesting feel years ago, that or its just nostalgia when I think of Total Recall, Aliens, The Predator, Robocop, Blade Runner, and so on (basically I don't think there's been any really good Sci-Fi movies since the 80's-90's).

Woah, that's weird that we posted the same thing....

And in response to your good sci fi movie thing: Serenity, Revenge of the Sith to name a few.

Honestly, I wouldn't have mentioned Star Wars anyways. It blows stuff out of the water in terms of originality.

(just ask people here, I made an announcement when Episode III came out. I love Star Wars).

Its just ... different though. Pure fantasy I guess. I just can't explain it.

I agree with Xeo and FX in the fact that a movie about the war would be much more appealing. But either way, I'm curious. I'll probably watch it when it comes out, regardless of whether its good or not. Mostly for storyline confirmation.

But if it happens to be half as good as Terminator 2, then it'll be great (cuz that's probably my favorite movie of all time!). I guess only time will tell...

Here's an article about it: http://www.chud.com/index.php?type=thud&id=7565

In case the article expires or whatever, here it is quoted:
Earlier today I got on the phone with Black Dahlia screenwriter Josh Friedman*, and one of the topics of conversation ended up being The Sarah Connor Chronicles, the newly greenlit Terminator TV show he is executive producing and writing.

The Sarah Connor Chronicles takes place between Terminator 2 and Terminator 3, which has left fans wondering what the heck is this show going to be about anyway? Is it just going to be Sarah and John Connor as mom and son, sort of an Alice with rocket launchers instead of Mel’s Diner? Will there be any Terminators in the show? Friedman was as cryptic as possible, but did let loose some tantalizing hints.

“I would like to be able to explore as many different avenues of Terminator mythology as possible,” he told me. “I think to do a show that is a completely Terminator-less environment would probably not be, in the long run, a wise move or the most interesting thing.”

Ever since the success of 24 and Lost serialized dramas have been the networks’ latest fascination. Friedman says that while he likes long story arcs, he’s not bringing the show in that direction. “I always go back to The X-Files, which I think did a good job of balancing close-ended stories with mythology stories,” Friedman said. “The show will certainly not be a close-ended, procedural adventure of the week show. I would say it’s going to be a hybrid. It’ll be somewhere in between – it’s not going to be a Terminator of the week show, but it’s also not going to be soap opera.”

And Friedman knows you're paying attention to this show, and he has only one thing to ask of you. "I read the talk backs, and people are pissed. They don’t want you to mess with it. The internet has a love/hate thing with the properties they love – they want more and they want it done well, but they hate it if Cameron’s not involved. All I ask is that people withhold judgment until they see it. I think it’s pretty fucking cool."

* I’m not allowed to review The Black Dahlia until next week (I already begged to go early, but no dice), but I’ll tell you now that it’s a very good film. De Palma is at the top of his game here, bringing us a noir thriller that’s so of the era in which it’s set – the late 40s – that it feels like it should be in black and white. And Friedman’s script, which does a fantastic job of keeping the spirit and grit of James Ellroy’s novel while maintaining a tight pace, may very well end up getting the nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.

I seriously believe the storyline between 1 and 2 would be better. I'd like to see Sarah sleeping around to give John a broader background in warfare, technology and such.

Let's also see how she got into that asylum.

But yeah, all these movies and they're still just teasing at the actual war with the machines.

Ooo... That was scintillating, the part that Rogue said about Sarah going into the Asylum! I was always wondering HOW she got captured and sent there, considering how resourceful she is...

Also, I want to know where she learned about guns, assassination, warfare and the such. She was almost completely unskilled in the first movie, but she's practically a war veteran in the second movie... That's mainly why I want to see what happens then!

But maybe.... Its an alternate storyline in the show thats coming out... That might be good! Kind of like if the T-1000 never came to destroy John Conner in the first place and the Terminator was sent to destroy him again, or possibly his future self comes back into the past to help himself or someone.... Who knows...

A few people on different entertainment sites have already commented that they would be more excited about this if the RoboCop TV show didn't suck so much.

If it's anything like the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, I'm on board.

There was a Robocop TV series?

But yeah, sadly Robocop 3 sucked, and I don't even remember much about 2. Its funny though because recently I was talking with my friends and suggesting that it would be cool to see Robocop get remade. With a treatment like some movies like Batman, and King Kong have been given I think it would be pretty cool. But, I can dream.

A series between 1 and 2 would be better...blah blah blah...yeah. I agree with all of that, so I'm not going to repeat it. However, I think this is worth a shot though. I'd give it a shot, watch a few episodes and then tear it apart with criticism.

Headey Reveals Connor Chronicles

Lena Headey, who stars in the the Fox SF drama pilot The Sarah Connor Chronicles, told SCI FI Wire that the show will begin with a confrontation between Headey's title character; her son, John Connor (Heroes' Thomas Dekker); and two new Terminators: a female model, played by Serenity's Summer Glau, and a male one, which she called Cromartie, played by Owain Yeoman. One is good and one is bad; she didn't say which is which. (Glau's character is named Cameron, an apparent nod to Terminator franchise creator James Cameron.)

The pilot, which picks up the story from the end of the feature film Terminator 2: Judgment Day, begins in the desert, and "it ends with them landing in L.A., having run and escaped. Or maybe not," Headey said in an interview at WonderCon in San Francisco on March 3.

"We just finished [shooting]," Headey (300) said. "We were in Albuquerque [N.M.] for a month. And it was very intense, because TV is crazy. I mean, it's long days. It's like boom, boom, boom. You don't get any respite. But ... I think it's going to be great. I don't know if its going to be picked up, because it's only in pilot stage right now. But I learned to shoot many weapons and how to recognize a Terminator. So it was a good experience."

The pilot "begins, and it's them basically running, hiding, trying to live," Headey said. "Trying to carve out a normal life for themselves, but always being watched and trying to locate Skynet, trying to stop [it]. But there are many, many issues in their way." —Patrick Lee, News Editor

I'm really excited that Summer Glau (Firefly/Serenity) is going to be in this. She's one of the four people from the show that I want to see in other stuff (also, Nathan Fillion, Gina Torres, and Alan Tudyk).

Oh that's right. I remember hearing about who was playing whom, but I forgot to post about it.

Heh, it's always funny how sci-fi actors play roles in other sci-fi series.

Heroes (even though Thomas Dekker wasn't really a big character) and Firefly combine!

I wonder if these will have any continuity with the books. Probably not, judging by the trailer.

In regards to the video above (though if you guys followed it to youtube you probably saw these too), here's a page with more leaked footage.

I'll just be simple and honest, I'm not too impressed.

And although I'm a recent Browncoat convert, Summer Glau just doesn't seem right for the role she has here. As for the other actors, I'm not really liking them.

Its not like I'm totally against this and hate it now, and I do understand this is very early footage, but yeah ...

I think that they're are trying to play on the relationship between John and Sarah.

But on a good note, a company bought the Terminator rights, and are planning on making a 4, 5, and 6. I'll try and find the article...

No clue why I said that... don't even remember typing that...

Anyways, here is an article. Not the one I read, which I'll try and find.

Former producing partners Mario Kassar and Andrew Vajna have sold the merchandising, licensing and film rights to The Terminator to another pair of partners who are just now dipping their toes into the movie biz. (The price tag was not mentioned.) According to Variety, a company called Halcyon now owns the property, and they're planning to re-ignite the franchise without the involvement of James Cameron or Arnold Schwarzenegger. A pair of people who are still connected to Terminator 4 are screenwriters Michael Ferris and John Brancato, who also wrote Terminator 3 and have the T4 script already finished and under lock and key.

In related news, that Sarah Connor Chronicles series, which is also an offshoot of The Terminator, is still moving along quite well. Word is that Fox might announce the pick-up sooner rather than later. But back to the movie stuff: It looks like the fourth Terminator movie will focus on a thirty-ish John Connor as he struggles through a bleak future while inspiring people to fight back against the amazingly evil robots. But John should already know that, only a few years down the line, he'll be sending Michael Biehn back in time to protect Linda Hamilton from The Terminator. Yeah, so between the new TV series and this proposed movie trilogy (yes, trilogy), I'm guessing we'll have a lot to talk about, Terminator-wise, over the next few years.
