I think this can go in either Tech or General, but if not oh well  What programs do you regularly run simultaneously? How many have you had opened before your computer crashed?
I usually go crazy with windows when I'm on the internet, cause I will usually find this great site with many interesting links and I just open tabs or new windows like mad. I think the most I've had opened was when I was looking for wallpapers on that art site deviant  My programs though, I usually have word, MSN, iTunes plus a webpage(s) opened.

| Windows usually kept open:
Trillian(for AIM). MSN(yeah, I don't like MSN on Trillian). Skype. At least three MSN conversations. One Trillian conversation window. Around three or four Explorer windows. Three microsoft word documents. And occasionally... Oblivion. I have yet to have it crash, even when I had my old low quality decade old computer. I need to try running Bittorrent too, except that all I've done with that is 3% of RO to play here. I stopped downloading it when I got Oblivion. |

| Let's see, I have "Compuserve" open, some AIM windows, Firefox, a notepad, Okami on PS2 open behind me(with controller on lap), and my radio on right now(If the radio's shitty I go to itunes).
So I multitask between electronic systems, I use three things at once!!! OWNED! |

AIM- Anywhere from 3-15 windows open, mainly in the 8-9 region. (I kid you not.) Buddlylist. Itunes. Microsoft Word Document. Sometimes Stepmania. Sometimes Photoshop. |

During the school year: Oh gosh...I'll usually have quite a few IE windows open. I literally do all my homework at the same time. I find it better that way, cuz I don't get bored or burned out too much on just one subject. And then everything else stated above applies here as well. |

| Well, your question is incorrect. I don't multitask my programs, the OS does. I can multitask outside of the computer realm...I do it all the time: breathing, talking, walking, moving, cooking, computer, playing a game, training someone, testing...
But, at work I keep a minimum (outside of all the processes running in the background) of five programs/windows open at any one time. The most I've had open was 18 windows--all being used--for work purposes. But, Windows handles the multitasking. I just make sure it's not running any bullshit that'll compromise the performance of the applications I need. At home, because of the processing power and lack of memory, I only keep open what I'm using and nothing else. No sense in wasting computer power and time. |
