So, it's a prequel to Halo, takes place when we first discover the covenant. While it may be just a CGI video, it looks AWESOME. I wonder if you'll be playing as Cheif... EDIT: Apparently it's an RTS, so that answers my question... (Last edited by FX on 09-30-06 07:18 PM) |

Apparently, the original Halo was planned to be an RTS for the PC until the X-Box came along. Then they scrapped all that they had done and made it in to an FPS. Its about time that they made this one!

Originally posted by Nelrith Actually it was going to be for the MAC. Anyway, I look forward to it, hopefully it will have as good of a story as Halo, and, I hate to say it, but I don't want to see Master Chief in here. He is the hero of Halo, we need a new hero for Halo Wars. |

Originally posted by Vulcanlogic Might have been me but I thought it was a bit plain. I mean, come on, you blew up a fricken ring and kill some of your former friends. And when Halo 2 cames in, it only say: "Hey, we got more Halo for you to blow up with." If Halo War is prequel, IT BETTER explain few things, such as why were they against each other, who the fuck built some Halo and what intentional use were they for? Halo War better not just be another "action-packed so that our hardcore fans will buy this game because we changed a few thing around but for more action going on and somewhat stable storyline" type of game. Otherwise, I'll be disappointed like how I am with the Halo 2 (and I am never fond of Halo either). |

Halo the games are actually partial continuations from Bungie's previous games in which you faced a alien race quite similar to the ones in Halo. Coincidentally, you played as a human marine wearing some sort of power suit as well. Now, for some Halo back storys for those who didnt pick up on it on the first place!
1. The covenant is not one single race of beings. They are actually a collective, meaning that individual races came together under the prophets for mutual survival of all their races. It has been speculated that the original covenenat was formed to hold back the Flood, since fighting together is much more efficient then fighting alone. 2. The Halo Ring itself was constructed ages ago. The ring is a self sustaining ship drifitng in space. The original intention of the Halo was to lock the Flood away and launch them into the far reaches of space where no once could ever come into contact with them. When the prophets became corrupt and power hungry, they found Halo. By this time, the war between the humans and the covenant had started. The main game hasnt stated why exactly they went to war, but I believe it was for our resources of our planet. The Covenant knew the Halo was used to contain the Flood, but the Halo itself proved far more useful. It was a giant weapon, capable of mass destruction over entire planets. When the humans arrived and started the battle for Halo, they awoke the Flood, creating even more problems. 3. The Flood are like parasites. They latch onto dead bodies and mutate them into zombie like creatures with impressive strength and durability. Their soul purpose is to destroy anything in their way and turn the dead bodies into their tools. It was thought that they were all round up and put onto Halo, but as we saw in Halo 2, some higher up Flood survived and still live in hiding, working behind the scenes to mislead people so that they can fulfill their own goals. hope that covers some bases, anyway, I think this has the potential of being good, but lets face it. There are far to many better RTS's on the market, though only 1 on the X-Box 360. Still, I dont see buying this game for the PC at all, I would rather wait for Command And Conquer 2: Tiberium Wars to hit store shelves. In retrospect, this game better tell us how the war started and how all the other Spartans were wipped out... (and they better not pull none of that Star Wars crap saying they were all hunted down by the Covenenant and killed) |

*Sigh* Seticus, your ignorance dissapoints me.
Originally posted by Seticus He is so important, because he is the last of the Spartans, a genetically enhanced race of superhumans. He will most likely not be in Halo Wars, and if he is, you won't know. He'll just be another faceless Spartan. Originally posted by Seticus *shakes head* The plot is much more intricate than that. I mean, you could summarize almost any game in that fasion. And it can't answer those questions because it's a prequel. Therefore, if we don't know those things in Halo 2, how could we know it before? Also, there will definately be no Halos in Wars, since Halo 1 is when we first discover them. Also, the Covenant are fighting us because they are on a holy crusade. Originally posted by Seticus So, it should not be better? You want a game that has no action, and has no differences, and is either the same game, or a worse game? And what is up with your grammar, or lack thereof? (Last edited by FX on 10-02-06 08:06 PM) |

He has a grammar problem because HE WEARS FREAKIN HEARING AIDS!
HEARING AIDS PEOPLE!!! DO YOU HAVE ANY LONG TERM MEMORY? That aside, FX, you also dig yourself into a hole.... 1. You say its a prequel and can not explain why the Halo's were built and why we are at war with the covenant... If it is a prequel, it better well damn explain more in detail about these things, after all, it is set BEFORE Halo 1 HAPPENED! 2. If they are smart, we will play BOTH sides of the story again, allowing use to understand what is trully happening. The Covenant was already on the Halo long before we found it, that was their weapon to bring their Holy Crusade against us to a end, but we found it way before they could get it operational and attack us with it. 3. Seticus wants a game with action, but he also wants a decent storyline! Fire Emblem has action AND a storyline that makes you feel a part of the universe filled with other characters, unlike in Halo where you are basically a one man army almost all the time. I like Halo and Halo 2 simply because of the frantic gun fights between you and 10 enemies with better guns then you. To bad all I need is a brute shot to cleave through the entire game using only melee except on the aerial dudes. 4. Can we stop the flameing now? Both sides like games of different quality. FX, you like games with alota action and the story can be lacking in some parts. Seticus, you like Action with Storys that pull you into that realm and make you feel important. I know that neither of you will back down, so really, why do you keep trying to make people believe your side? Yelling at each other is not going to make anyone else believe your side in the end, so just peacefully put up your comments and respond in kind already! Moving past that, I really want to know how they will do the vehicle system. Will you need to supply Marines to empty tanks and warthogs to get them moving, kinda like a Warcraft system. But seriously, if you can play as covenant, why cant you just land a army of scarabs on the battlefield and totally own everything? Scarabs arent invincible, but you need to land tricky hits to bring one down (i.e. killing the piolts and blowing up the controls). Where will this be taking place exactly? On another planet I would have to assume, it wasnt until Halo 2 that they really invaded Earth in full, but they quickly left when they got what they came for. I'm thinking that its going to take place within the book series, to bring the story to non-readers. It seems like the most logical setting.

Originally posted by FX No, it is probably your lack of ideals of hearing someone's opinion that allow you to be disappointed with almost anything. I'm semi-sick of how one poster here doesn't even know what a prequel is. Thank you for contradicting yourself, FX. Next time, don't EVER say a prequel doesn't need to answer a story. Look, Halo War must give the feeling that action must be given to you. Unless they want to control it, half of those action feel like you just want to kill anything. How about making certain action make either your way harder, or their suggestion easier? I don't like a straight-forward, I'm-Busting-Caps-In-Your-Ass shooting style. The only thing they do is just shoot whatever you feel like. Even through it is a RTS, somehow I think they will not act with much knowledge in a given situation. I think in the game youll be able to command a army of spartans. The resaon master chief is so important is cause hes the LAST of them now.
Thats my take on the whole master cheif thing. |

You asked why the Covenenant were attacking us, which we already know, and you asked about the rings, which can't be answered in the prequel for 2 reasons: 1) They haven't been discovered yet. 2) If they don't know about them in Halo 2, how can they know in the Halo prequel? And I meant your ignorance in the Halo story. |

Originally posted by FX Then again, that would put the other statement of my personality being ignorance to wrongfully . Let see... 1.) I was never fond of Halo. Mentioned before. Likewise, I never played it much since my brother often forced me to play some games I don't want to. How about cooperative story-mode "speedrun" sound for a starter? How about if we skipped some few chapters? Don't tell me that I am ignorance in Halo story, because I DID NOT COMPLETE THE GAME! 2.) Originally posted by FX Originally posted by FX Okay, let compare a sequel to a prequel. Sequel - A time AFTER an event started. Prequel - A time BEFORE an event started. Let see... Both of them involved sometime within a event that occured, but in a different time frame. Originally posted by FX Now if what you said is true, you screwed up there... BADLY. Halo War -> Halo 1 -> Halo 2 Halo War COULD explain how Halo was created. You said: Halo 1 was the first to discover there. However, if that was true, a prequel could mention of a person who MADE it. Just think about it. If Halo was already an existing war, Halo War might be a START of a war. Thus, how Master Chief survived the entire crisis, how Halo was built (discovered is different from being built) or in this case, still continued to live on, a prequel cover holes in storywise before the Halo 1 even started. Originally posted by SeticusOriginally posted by FX Exactly, which would mean your ignorant about the story of the game. Let me explain what ignorant means: ignorant |?ign?r?nt| adjective: lacking knowledge or awareness in general; uneducated or unsophisticated. So you didn't play the game, meaning you are ignorant about it. Originally posted by Seticus Way to botch what I'm saying by putting two separate quotes together. Originally posted by SeticusOriginally posted by FX In Wars, you are playing the humans...so we'd discover how something was made, before we discover the actual thing? Also, we know how Chief survived. |

Originally posted by FX So I didn't play a game... So? I can say: "Screw you. My brother told me all about Halo" or "OMFG, are you dumb as hell? I could check out at Wiki." If any, all you ever did was simply insult me. If I didn't play a game, doesn't mean I am ignorant of it. For all fucking sake, I could just read a wiki-story of it, and say that I knew much of it just to prove the point that despite that I never played it, I could know it and not play it. FX, all you did was mention on how a prequel CAN'T answer a question (such as "how Halo was first form") where it should be that it COULD answer a question. Since you are so "ignorant" of a question hinting stuff, I can't believes how you think discover and built are the SAME definition. Way to go. Discover a new land (meaning you found it.) Built a new land (meaning you have create it. No shit, Sherlock.) So if we discover a person who built it, then we would already discovered Halo. Okay, you said Halo 1 was the first Halo discovered. So that mean Halo built itself? Wow, I didn't know space can do that. No, we can find how Halo was made from the start. Prequel - Can reveal how Halo was made, and by whom it was made. As for how Master Chief survived solo, I found something interesting... Your "Last Spartan Survivor" rang false! Originally posted by First Strike Originally posted by Halo 2 So much for a last survivor. Prequel - How Master Chief (if possible) survived this accident despite being the "Last Spartan" everyone said. Also, we could experience the difficulty of his history. Just remember prequel cover plothole from its orginial game. |

Originally posted by SeticusOriginally posted by FX Yes, you could have, but apparently you haven't, because you are exibiting ignorance on the subject. Originally posted by Seticus *takes half hour to understand what the fuck Seticus is saying* I never said that built and discovered are the same thing. But since the game will only cover Covenant and Humans, and neither of them know who built the Halos later then they definately can't know who built them in Wars. Originally posted by Seticus No, we can't because the people we are playing as, don't know. Originally posted by Seticus Well, if you are going to quote the book, you should know that the book answeres that question. |
