I've been working... and I have newfound respect for grocery store cashiers since it sucks having to be on your feet for eight hours, doing the same repetitive motion over and over and over..... I haven't been this sore in months. I entered into this fiction writing contest for the Pathfinder Chronicler, which is a group of people that do fiction work based on the Pathfinder RPG, yet are not actually owned by Paizo Publishing though they are allied. They put out an annual anthology of short stories, and this contest is for a top place in the next one as well as gift cards to Paizo's online store. I didn't initially make it into the second round (I was ranked 21-25 and only the top 20 moved on), however two of those 20 flaked out and they called for volunteer alternates... which I jumped on. So I wrote, edited, and submitted a just under 4500 word story in ten days while the top 20 people had a month. Only three move on to the next round, so here is hoping that I am one of the lucky ones. My first round story is now going through editing for consideration in the Anthology... though there is no guarantee that it will make it in. I am having trouble rewriting the ending to improve it because I've been so scatterbrained, but I am hopeful. In addition to all this, we finally found a potential gaming group here and we have the first game on Saturday, so Ben and I have been busy making characters all week. Mine is nominally done, so I don't have that to worry about. Now I can get back to helping my friend Bernard with the background stuff for the LARP I've been helping him create. |
