I'm sorry, True.
Consider it a stumbling block on your way to success, and you've still got your sweet, little baby (or is she a toddler now?) to cheer you up and be motivation to get climb back on your steed and kick ass. |

Fuck you, All Souls Cemetery. Went to visit my grandfather's grave today and found it entirely scratched to hell from the years of lawn mower blades running over it.
What a piece of shit cemetery to treat the final resting places of loved ones so poorly. You can only read it by dumping a whole lot of water on it, and I cut my finger cleaning it. Seriously, fuck you, guys. This is just shitty groundskeeping through and through. EDIT: Oh, and Elara, sorry to hear about the sudden price changes. What's going on now? The kid's lawyers were fighting tooth and nail today to not have him possibly get the death penalty.

The question is, if he does get the death penalty, how soon would he be executed? If it's anything like California he could die of old age on death row with premium cable and top-notch, free healthcare.
Looks like Colorado doesn't give out the death penalty often, and have executed one person since the moratorium on capital punishment was lifted in the '70s. There's three people awaiting execution (one, Nathan Dunlap, for murders committed in '96), and the ACLU keeps championing for them to have more rights and amenities (Source, for them getting exercise and sunlight). As much as I wish I could be a true humanitarian, I don't consider people who commit heinous crimes worthy of the same rights and even MORE benefits than the average person who's managed to behave themselves and, you know, NOT kill a bunch of people. Still, I voted to do away with the death penalty last year, when it was on the ballot for my state, because death row inmates get preferential treatment compared with the general population. I mean, in Oregon, a death row inmate attempted to procure an organ transplant (he eventually didn't get it because he didn't fit some of the criteria, which they won't publish since it would violate doctor-patient confidentiality. Still Oregon's shelling out over $120,000/year to keep him on dialysis and this was reported 10 years ago. He's still alive). Would this have gone so far if he weren't awaiting execution? |

Seriously, I don't care if you love or hate our president, but where do people get off blaming him for something that happened several years before his election? |

Originally posted by Lord Vulkas Mormonus Thing is, the question was worded:
I would assume they're referring to the FEMA kerfuffle that happened in August of 2005, three years before his election (three and a half before he entered office). I'm not saying this as a liberal (I'm a moderate who just happens to agree with the liberal side more than usual these days) or as an Obama fan (I voted Ron Paul both times during the primaries). This simply illustrates how en vogue it is, especially for the GOP, to blame Obama for everything, whether it was truly his or the government's fault or not. Doesn't help that the next question went as such:
I mean, the birther argument is still going, and yet no one ever brings up how McCain was born in Panama. |

Fuck clubbing. I've never been a club/noisy dance bar person, and having to be subjected to the club-hopping scene this weekend was just utter shit, especially since I was just there to hang out with my friend for his birthday.
It's all the bullshit I hate about humanity: attention-seeking, desperation, stupid drunkeness, peacocking, crowds, douchebaggery, fight-picking, bad music you can't hear your friends over, sluttiness, expensive drinks, all of it. There was twerking going on all over the damn place. My friend's roommates kept trying to pick up vapid girls whom the roommates wanted my friend to come talk to when we'd be having a conversation about something or other. Of course, I'm the one loser sitting there with my French WWI graphic novel, which I'd end up reading while alone. Thankfully Brandon showed up halfway through it so I had someone to be with while all the sad hedonism went on. What's more, I wasn't all that dressed up since I was helping take apart and load up our TARDIS for a Who con in San Antonio. So I was in jeans, T-shirt, and jacket and not freshly showered. When Stitch and I were getting dinner before heading to the club to meet up with my friend and his group, our eating place didn't have a bathroom. The guy tells me to walk across the way and head in one of the bars. I got the stare-down by bouncers who told me for one reason or another I couldn't go in. Ended up running around the block a few times while my food got cold and rushed into a dance club with no bouncers out front, where I was followed into the bathroom, but wasn't cut off before I ducked into a stall. Got business done and ran the fuck out of there, while hostesses and others glared on, to my cold pizza and fries that arrived at the table a minute after I had to go on this restroom-seeking excursion. Yep. Fuck you, Pasadena nightlife. (Last edited by Rogue on 08-27-13 11:48 AM) |

All right, so if you have a Facebook account, chances are you're getting inundated with opinions about last night's VMAs. Particularly when it comes to Miley Cyrus' performance.
Not being up on what the kids are listening to these days, I didn't realize it when one of my friends pointed out that everyone should be angry about the portion when Robin Thicke (not even sure who he is) came out and started singing a song that's from the perspective of a date rapist. ![]() So I looked up the song, which I thought was a cover of a '60s song or something with how it sounded and since I couldn't hear or make out the lyrics. Anyway, I ended up watching the music video that went with "Blurred Lines." Tell me what you think. CAUTION: NOT SAFE FOR WORK/KIDS/PARENTS. (Last edited by Rogue on 08-26-13 03:36 PM) |

If I'm having regular coffee at home, these days I've been pouring Amarula into it with cream and some sugar.
Otherwise, if I'm getting it some place I order iced mochas. What's your favorite episode of "The Simpsons"? |

The U.S., France, United Kingdom, Germany, and Turkey have vowed to use force against Syria for its use of chemical weapons to massacre its own people. What outlets are covering this are reporting the strikes may be as early as this Thursday.
What do you think about this? I'd been concerned about Syria since I had to debate against torture my freshman year of college. Researching the subject, I'd read about the United States and other countries using extraordinary rendition to move suspected terrorists to Syria (where pretty much anything goes when it comes to torture), as told by former CIA operatives. Then over the years we'd keep hearing about more and more excessively violent things happening to Syria's people, and I'd keep wondering if we were ever going to deal with them. Still, as a moderate, I'm not entirely backing that we should jump into this situation and use force. We're known for sticking our noses in other people's business, but as I've heard from many a college professor, being the super-power that we are, it's our responsibility to police the world. Again, thoughts? |

So yeah, read the last of Sweet Tooth, all of what's out in graphic novel form for The Unwritten and Chew and the first volume of Northlanders.
My most recent read was Jacques Tardi's "Goddamn This War!", translated from its original French. I've been really into his comics lately (unfortunately I've only been able to get one volume of his "The Extraordinary Adventures of Adele Blanc-Sec"), especially his WWI pieces. |

Originally posted by FX That's quite an apt review, actually. Honestly, since it sounds so much like Marvin Gaye's "Got To Give It Up" the sound of the song is actually not bad. The mysogyny of the video and lyrics, not to mention the hashtags, is what makes it all bullshit. But even on the grounds of the music and composition, Marvin Gaye's family is in a suing mood since they say he stole Marvin's song to which Robin Thicke preemptively sued THEM to protect his "rapey" tune. SOURCE In court she testified to the couple being broke at George's bond hearing, but failed to mention they had collected more than $100,000 in internet donations and were hiding it in different people's accounts. |
